Left Eats Left: Ellen DeGeneres Getting Blasted for Defending Kevin Hart
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is being slammed with criticism for hosting a conversation with comedian Kevin Hart.
Hart has been the latest target of the left’s attacks. He recently stepped down as Oscars host after some of his old tweets and stand-up comedy material resurfaced.
The tweets, mostly from the greater part of a decade ago, used words like “homo” and “gay” in derogatory ways.
Hart has apologized for his words and stepped down from hosting the Oscars. Of course, he was still criticized by the left, with some seeing his apology as unsatisfactory.
DeGeneres, however, who made headlines in 1997 when she came out as a lesbian, was willing to give Hart a second shot.
“I believe in forgiveness. I believe in second chances,” she tweeted to introduce her segment with Hart.

She touted her conversation with Hart as “authentic and real.” During the interview, DeGeneres accepted Hart’s apology and encouraged him to reclaim his role as Oscar host, according to The Associated Press.
“You have grown, you have apologized, you are apologizing again right now. You’ve done it. Don’t let those people win — host the Oscars,” she told him.
Now she’s being slammed for her public forgiveness of Hart.
Liberal site Slate criticized DeGeneres both for being “barely political” and for taking a definite stance on the Hart issue. It described as “sickening” her “decision to offer him absolution.”
“Most celebrity apology tours end up making the celebrity come off as even more ridiculous … but the one who ought to be most embarrassed by this interview is DeGeneres herself,” The Hollywood Reporter claimed.
And some on Twitter were no less brutal.
I feel like if you’re not homophobic anymore, you shouldn’t mind apologizing for your past homophobia again and again and again. I don’t want to hear a hostile retelling of how we didn’t hear your meager apology the first time.

@andylassner Wow, #Ellen, very disappointed. I was really hoping this was a rumour. After all these years and after all the good you’ve done, you choose to support someone so blatantly homophobic it’s scary. #EllenDeGeneres #KevinHart

this whole ellen/kevin hart thing is a perfect example of how privilege and constant praise distorts a person’s reality so much that they perceive any criticism, however valid, to be an attack on their entire livelihood

Ellen to Kevin Hart: “don’t let those people win, host the Oscars”.
“Those people” are your community, Ellen. The ones who stood behind you when people like Kevin thought you were less than enough to be on TV.
He’s not sorry. His lame interview/Insta posts proved that.— Harry Cook (@HarryCook) January 4, 2019
I don’t envy the lifetime of pressure put on Ellen, and yet, I’m still disappointed by the Kevin Hart interview. And I have every right to be. And so do you.
It was weak and ridiculous. Taking on that responsibility means exactly that: a responsibility.

Turns out something we have suspected about the far left is true: When they dredge up old events to publicly shame people, they’re not looking to make amends.
In fact, any signs of forgiveness are punished, such as in this case. If that doesn’t speak to far left’s true intolerance, what does?
