11-Year-Old Earns Second Golden Buzzer on 'America's Got Talent: The Champions'
The stakes are high for contestants as they compete for the top spot on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.”
While traditional “AGT” summer seasons bring us a mix of cringe-worthy auditions, stellar performances and acts that steal our hearts, “Champions” has brought back the best of the best, making it even more difficult to vote for a favorite.
One starlet has proven she has earned her place as a true champion by wowing the judges once again with her amazing voice — and she’s only 11 years old.
We first met Angelica Hale during “AGT” season 12. From the moment this little girl stepped on stage in 2017, we were in awe.
She was just 9 years old when she auditioned for “AGT.” But the singer revealed she had started performing long before that.
At the young age of 2, Angelica began her road to stardom. Then, at only 4 years old, the bright talent came down with double pneumonia and desperately needed a kidney transplant.
Thankfully, her mother was a match and donated her kidney to her daughter. “She’s my hero,” Angelica said during season 12.
There was no doubt from day one that Angelica would rise to the top. She said she wanted to be like Whitney Houston, a “superstar.”
There was no question as to why this girl received a “yes” from all four judges on the first try. Her tears after singing Andra Day’s “Rise Up” brought us to our feet and moved us to tears as well.
Angelica continued to blow America away as she remained on stage round after round. From her golden buzzer-winning performance of “Girl on Fire,” to her second-place finish to Darci Lynne Farmer, we loved watching her shine.
Now she’s back and better than ever. The “Champions” stage can certainly be an intimidating one, especially when you’re running against singing talents such as Susan Boyle and Cristina Ramos.
But Angelica stepped onto the Champions stage during week three of the season with more confidence than ever, winning the judges over once again.
Watch as she kills Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song.” You won’t be able to tear your eyes and ears away. This girl has that extra special something, indeed.
We certainly can’t blame Howie Mandel for hitting that golden buzzer, giving Angelica her second one during her “AGT” career.
The 11-year-old broke down in tears as she said, “I can’t believe this is actually happening to me … I never expected this to happen.”
We’d like to second Mr. Mandel who said, “you deserve it.” We can’t wait to see what she sings next!
