92-Yr-Old Barbara Bush Gives Up On Serious Illness, Refusing Further Medical Treatment
Barbara Bush has been beloved and hated by countless, but all can agree on one thing: She has become an iconic first lady.
The wife of a former president and the mother of a second former president, her name is well known.
That’s why its no surprise that the news today was announced and received by heavy hearts.
Barbara, 92, is now being cared for at her home in Houston, Texas, after declining further medical treatment.
Barbara has had a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure. She has been in and out of the hospital several times in the past year alone and it seems her decision has been made.
She knows her time on earth is coming to an end.
The first lady has decided to go gracefully in her own home and not within the confines and restraints that come with taking your last breath inside a hospital’s walls.
The former president’s office released a statement confirming the news of her recent hospitalizations. It also went on to shed a little light on what was going on with the first lady behind closed doors.
“Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care,” the statement said.
The statement went on to touch on just how strong she has been despite looking into the face of death.
“It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others.’
Fans and admirers of the Bush family know it won’t be long until she takes her last breath.
However, you can rest easy knowing that she is surrounded by a family that she adores.
Barbara Bush also expressed that she was appreciative of the many kind messages and prayers she has received since making the difficult decision.
