Eagles star rips Patriots as a 'fear-based organization'
Almost from the moment Tom Brady’s Hail Mary pass fell incomplete and the Eagles won the Super Bowl, Patriot haters have been in overdrive.
The anti-Pats crowd believes Bill Belichick and Brady hate each other, that Josh McDaniels is a weasel for accepting — then turning down — the Colts head coaching job, and the Lions messed up by hiring former Pats defensive coordinator Matt Patricia as their new head coach because, well, did you see what Nick Foles did in the Super Bowl?
Yes, the team America loves to hate has been an easy target.
And now you can add Eagles tackle Lane Johnson to the critics.
The outspoken All-Pro called out New England during Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast.
“I just think that the Patriot Way is a fear-based organization,” Johnson said. “Obviously, do they win? Hell yes, they win. They’ve won for a long time. Do I think people enjoy and can say, ‘I had a lot of fun playing there?’ No, I don’t. That’s just the God’s honest truth.”
Johnson has never been shy in sharing his opinions. You might remember in December, he announced that he was no longer talking to the media on a Wednesday, after criticizing referees and Oakland’s Kahlil Mack two nights earlier.
Obviously, Johnson’s media boycott didn’t last long.
“They’re successful, but when they go to interviews, they act like f—ing robots,” Johnson said of New England players. “Hey, stop being a d—head. We can be cordial for a little bit. You only get to do this job one time, so let’s have fun while we’re doing it. Not to be reckless, but I’d much rather have fun and win a Super Bowl than be miserable and win five Super Bowls.”
In fairness to the five-time champions, the “Patriot Way” usually refers to how players keep their heads down and do their jobs. Unlike, say the Steelers or Jaguars, nobody heard New England players looking past their opponents during the postseason.
Ever since January’s ESPN report about tension in Foxborough, rumors have circulated about the end of the Patriots’ dynasty.
Despite the flaws of this year’s New England team, the Patriots were eight minutes away from back-to-back championships.
So while there may be some truth to what Johnson says, keep in mind that he also shared this pearl of wisdom.

It sure looks like the Eagles are enjoying their moment in the sun.
