USA hockey player sets incredible record for fastest two goals ever
Within a matter of seconds, the U.S. women’s hockey game against Russia on Tuesday went from a nail-biter to a potential blowout.
And history was made at the same time.

U.S. forward Jocelyn Lamoureux-Davidson set an Olympic record by scoring two goals just six seconds apart in the team’s 5-0 victory over Russia.

With the U.S. leading 1-0 a little more than midway through the second period, Monique Lamoureux-Morando’s shot from the right point was stopped by Russia goaltender Valeria Tarakanova. But the rebound bounced to her twin sister, Lamoureux-Davidson, who put the puck in the net to give the Americans a 2-0 lead at the 11:46 mark.
The second goal showcased incredible individual talent that would make any NHL star envious.
The Russians won the ensuing faceoff, but Lamoureux-Davidson stole the puck from a group of three skaters. She then streaked down the ice, juked the goalie to the right, slid the puck to her backhand and flipped it in the net for a 3-0 lead at the 11:52 mark.
Lamoureux-Davidson broke the previous Olympic record for fastest two goals, which was eight seconds. That was set in the 1960 Olympics by Sweden’s Carl Goran Obergand — long before women were playing hockey in the Olympics.
In addition to her two goals, Lamoureux-Davidson had an assist on the first goal of the game, scored by Kacey Bellamy at the 8:02 mark of the first period.
Gigi Marvin and Hanna Brandt scored the other two goals for Team USA.
Nicole Hensley recorded the shutout in goal for the U.S., but had to stop only 13 shots to do so. Meanwhile, Team USA peppered Tarakanova and her replacement, Nadezhda Morozova, with 50 shots — 33 of which came over the final two periods.
The U.S. women committed only one penalty in the game.
After falling behind 1-0 in its opening game against Finald, Team USA has now scored eight unanswered goals in its two victories.
Team USA is 2-0 in pool play, and will conclude pool play with a matchup against Canada — which is also 2-0 — on Wednesday. Both teams have already advanced to the semifinals of medal round. The result of Wednesday’s game will determine seeding for the semifinal round.
The U.S. men’s hockey team will begin pool play Wednesday against Slovenia.
