Tom Brady finally congratulated Nick Foles... it still wasn't for the Super Bowl

Share

For a team that doesn’t like to be in the spotlight, there sure has been an incredible amount of attention paid to the New England Patriots this offseason.

Just over the past couple of weeks, New England has dealt with player defections (Malcom Butler, Danny Amendola and Nate Solder, among others) and retirement rumors about quarterback Tom Brady.

That doesn’t even begin to touch on anything related to tight end Rob Gronkowski — the actor, dancer and, of course, supercross enthusiast.

Brady, meanwhile, caught a great deal of slack for not making his way across the field following the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl victory in February to congratulate Nick Foles on his championship.

Now that the Super Bowl MVP has had his contract renegotiated, Brady finally chimed in to congratulate him, at least on Instagram.

Patriots haters will point out that Brady congratulated his counterpart on the new contract, not on his incredible victory, but that might be making something out of nothing.

As a five-time champion and four-time Super Bowl MVP himself, Brady certainly knows what it’s like for Foles to start the season as a backup, yet end it with a title.

Do you think Tom Brady owes Nick Foles an apology?

And the question must be asked — was this even a real “snub” by Brady?

He did hug several other Eagles players, and the chaos on the field may have limited his ability to reach Foles.

And don’t forget, Mrs. Brady, aka Gisele Bundchen, caught criticism when she tried to comfort their children.

After their 5-year old daughter, Vivian, complained about Philadelphia’s win, Gisele responded, “Just this time. Daddy won five times. They never won before. Their whole life, they never won a Super Bowl. You have to let someone else win sometimes.’’

“Sometimes you have to let other people win,’’ she added. “We have to share. Sharing is caring.’’

We choose to believe that Brady didn’t intentionally snub Foles, and more importantly, it seems that the Eagles quarterback feels the same way.

Maybe one day we’ll get the answer to “Congratulate Gate.”
