Dez Bryant Rips Apart Former Teammate But Still Loves 'Clueless' Jerry Jones

For eight years Dez Bryant played passionately with a star on his helmet. But in April, Bryant was released by the only pro team he’s ever known.

That trademark passion remains, however, and he showed it off in a lengthy Twitter rant against the Dallas Cowboys.

It all started when Bryant replied to a quote from Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones saying that Dak Prescott will have a better 2018 without Bryant in his ear. That set off Bryant, who said the Cowboys offense struggled due to “garbage a– play calling.”

Then, with head coach Jason Garrett thrown under the bus, Bryant took a shot at owner Jerry Jones, calling Jones “clueless” before backtracking a couple of tweets later by saying, “I love Jerry.”

If coaches and the front office weren’t enough, Bryant then turned on his former teammates, in particular, veterans Travis Frederick and Sean Lee.

Bryant implied that the two Cowboys had played a part in his release and even went as far as to call Lee a snake and a backstabber.

The Cowboys’ second training camp practice on Friday provided a perfect opportunity for those called out by Bryant to respond.

Frederick said he doesn’t have any personnel input with the team, and Lee called it “absurd” that he could get anyone off the team before taking a shot of his own at Bryant.

“First thing, to say that I can get anybody off the team and have any influence on the roster is absurd,” Lee said.

“Second thing, I love Dez and I want the best for him. You know, to be honest, we did butt heads because I wanted Dez to be more accountable to this team and his teammates, and to be honest, a lot of the team felt that way.

“I think he needs to look at himself and hold himself accountable,” he added.

It’s also important to note that the original quote attributed to Stephen Jones also mentioned retired tight end Jason Witten being in the QB’s ear. But the quote that was circulated on social media and made its way to Bryant left out Witten’s name — perhaps intentionally, according to some theories, to get a response from Bryant.

And that’s exactly what happened.

Meanwhile, Bryant is still looking for an NFL job. The Cleveland Browns are reportedly considering bringing in Bryant and Jane Slater of NFL Network reported Friday that another team was considering signing him despite Friday’s barrage of tweets.
