Dolphins Star Has Perfect Way To Spend Bye Week, Brings Thanksgiving to Underprivileged Kids

Share

While the NFL often generates bad news for some of the off-the-field antics of its players, it’s also good to highlight some of the good things the league’s players are doing.

Miami Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake is one of those players who should be commended.

With the Dolphins off this week on a bye, Drake is using Hard Rock Stadium for something far more important than a football game. He’ll be hosting underprivileged kids for Thanksgiving dinner.

Drake is throwing a Thanksgiving feast Sunday for 50 children from the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County, reported TMZ.

Most of the kids have never had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, TMZ reported, so this is an extra special occasion for these youngsters.

TMZ also reported that Drake gave gift baskets filled with food for their families, as well as autographed cards, to each of his guests.

Drake was very involved in the Boys & Girls Club as a kid in Atlanta, so it has special meaning for him, too.

This is not the first time Drake has given back to his community. In October, he launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for victims of Hurricane Michael in Florida, CBS Sports reported.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is doing something similar with his annual “Cam’s Thanksgiving Jam.”

Its the seventh year of this tradition and this year’s feast will be the largest ever. Newton will host about 1.200 underprivileged kids in the Charlotte area.

It’s done in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank and includes games, music, activities, and a big Thanksgiving dinner, of course.

Kudos to both Drake and Newton for helping those in need in their communities.
