Former NFL Player Steals the Show at Draft by Trolling Home Crowd in Hilarious Fashion
No fan base enjoys getting trolled on a national stage such as during the NFL draft. Getting trolled by a punter is even worse.
But that’s what happened when Pat McAfee took the stage Friday night in Nashville to announce the Indianapolis Colts’ third-round draft pick.
The former Pro Bowl punter, who has since launched a sports broadcasting career, threw some jabs at the city of his former team’s AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans.
McAfee was on hand to announce the 89th overall pick, which he did, but not before reminding Titans fans of their lack of success against his Colts.
“Hello, Nashville. I’m not going to say a single word about the Tennessee Titans’ record against the Indianapolis Colts, because I was a punter and there’s no reason for me to talk about that,” McAfee said. “With that being said, we did not punt much against the Tennessee Titans so you probably have no clue who I am to begin with.”
McAfee has a point there: During his eight-year career, the Colts went 15-1 against the Titans.
He then went into self-deprecating mode while also throwing a jab at his former team for not inviting him to announce a draft pick sooner along with former Colts Robert Mathis and Joe Reitz.
“Robert Mathis announced a pick, Joe Reitz announced a pick, and then an orangutan announced a fourth-round draft pick,” McAfee said. “I was replaced by a zoo animal. I was not upset about it because the orangutan was terrible at his job.”
McAfee, who worked for Barstool Sports and now works for WWE, received acclaim from former teammates and fans on social media.

McAfee said Saturday he was grateful for the opportunity and issued an apology to the orangutan.
Well… Last night was a great time. I’ll remember it on my death bed i assume.
Huge thanks to the @NFL and the @Colts for letting me on a microphone right there in Nashville.
Let’s have a Saturday.

After his 90-second standup routine, McAfee finally announced that the Colts selected linebacker Bobby Okereke out of Stanford.
Okereke was the third defensive player the Colts selected within their first four picks. They also selected cornerback Rock Ya-Sin and linebacker Ben Banogu in the second round.
