Pregnant Bride Rushed to Hospital after Water Breaks During Own Wedding
It’s not uncommon for the bride and groom to end up not eating much of their own wedding cake at their reception.
Between talking to guests, dancing, taking pictures, and simply getting caught up in all of the excitement, an appetite for a big piece of cake often isn’t there.
Bride Dannie Mountford, 19, and groom Carl, 18, didn’t even cut the cake themselves.
It wasn’t that their appetites had disappeared, but they had disappeared early from their own reception.
What could be so important to the newlyweds on their wedding day that they would leave their reception before even cutting the cake?
The reason for their early exit is certainly understandable.
They were about to celebrate another significant life event — the birth of their daughter. Dannie’s water broke at their reception.
The wedding took place on Dec. 18. Her due date was in January.
Before their baby was born, the couple wanted to be married. While they achieved that goal, the birth of their daughter followed the wedding day much closer than they could have imagined.
On her wedding day, Dannie was 36 weeks and 2 days pregnant. She wasn’t expecting to go into labor that week and definitely not during the reception.
But as she danced with her new husband, she felt an odd sensation. Liquid was trickling down her leg; her water had broken.
“Whilst I was in the toilet all of the wedding guests were coming in to check on me and someone booked me a taxi to the hospital.
It wasn’t until I was in the labour ward that my wedding dress was taken off,” Dannie said, according to Daily Mail.
She described Carl as “really stressed” at the beginning of labor, but he proved himself to be an “amazing” support person during Dannie’s labor.
She labored at the hospital for nearly six hours before their daughter was born.
They named her Jasmine, and she weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces. It’s pretty safe to assume what, or rather who, their favorite wedding gift was, though she was delivered in the morning after the wedding on Dec. 19.
