Daughter Left in Tears after Dad Left Her Card & New Dress for Special Date

Share

Valentine’s Day is celebrated as a day full of love, kindness, and maybe a few chocolates and roses.

And though Cupid’s favorite day may be over, beautiful stories stemming from that mere 24-hours are still being shared over social media.

One of the most heartfelt stories comes from a Louisiana father’s moving gesture for his daughter. Detric Clark was praised by wife Ashley Clark for being the type of man she — and many other girls — never had in their life growing up.

“I never had the perfect daddy figure in my life!” Ashley wrote on Facebook. “But one thing for sure is I can honestly say I broke that cycle with my child.”

Detric’s Valentine’s Day gift to his 3-year-old daughter, Kinsley, was to take her out on a father-daughter date.

“Dee Clark decided he would take our princess on a real date and show her how a man is supposed to treat a lady so when she grow up she will accept nothing less!” Ashley wrote. “Wow! He’s the best hands down!”

The plan itself went further than even Ashley’s expectations, as Detric bought his little girl a new dress, a card, and a handful of other decorations to shower her with.

“I didn’t expect him to dress it up the way that he did,” said Ashley, who stayed home that night with their 4-month-old son. “He went out and bought her a blue dress and got her a card.”

Detric also admitted that the gesture, besides showing her how loved she is, was to teach her how she deserves to be treated by any date in the future.

“I just feel like she sees me all the time showing her mom love,” Detric said. “I wanted to show her that she deserves the same love.”

Upon opening the card and seeing the gifts that awaited her, Ashley said her overwhelmed daughter cried as her mother read the card aloud.

“Hello my beautiful princess,” Detric wrote in the card. “Get dress[ed]. I’m taking you to your favorite spot.”

Detric even got down on his knee to give Kinsley a rose beforehand, which her mother said she was “thrilled” about.

After recording the special moment, Ashley posted it to Facebook, where it was quickly shared by many who praised the generous father. Another post saw Detric surprising his wife at work with three-dozen roses and some chocolates.

But in the end, it was ultimately Detric simply wanting to be a role model to the women in his life that motivated the loving act.

“I just wanted to take my daughter out and show her a good time,” Detric said. “I want to give my wife and daughter the best. If I show her the best, she is going to expect it.”
