Man Stops Traffic by Blocking Road with Truck. Drivers Soon Realize Who He's Helping
Some days, you wake up to a news feed overflowing with stories about unexpected accidents, upsetting disasters, and a few everyday people who seem preoccupied with themselves. It can feel like there’s a shortage of basic goodness in the world.
Pondering all these things could certainly impair your faith in humanity. But one gentleman in Griffin, Georgia, is quietly proving that plenty of folks can still be perfectly thoughtful and considerate.
A woman named E’Ondria Weems was driving behind this unidentified motorist when he suddenly turned his truck into a barricade. Initially, it seemed like a pretty ignorant move — using a hulking Dodge pickup to block double lanes of traffic.
Weems began filming the incident. And before long, it turned into an incredibly sweet moment that has since been viewed millions of times across social media.
Clad only in a black shirt and baseball hat, the truck driver emerged from his vehicle amidst blustery winter snow flurries.
It only took a few seconds for everyone to realize that he’d stopped to assist someone else.
Evidently, an elderly gentleman using a walker had been attempting to cross the busy thoroughfare. The good Samaritan saw this, and instantly jumped into action.
Weems’ 40-second video snippet shows the unidentified driver standing protectively by the older pedestrian’s side. The younger man uses one hand to gently guide their progress as they approach oncoming cars in the opposite lanes.
Then the kind-hearted truck driver actually shifts position, stepping between the moving vehicles and his aged companion. This forces everyone to a complete stop, so the gentleman with the walker can safely proceed.
Once the pair reaches the opposite side of the road, the compassionate driver delivers an encouraging pat on the back. Then, as he returns to his own vehicle, he continues glancing behind himself to make sure the elderly man is okay.
Weems herself was so moved by this selfless gesture that she posted the footage on Facebook. “Y’all, this man stopped traffic to help him,” read her brief caption, “…and my heart.”

Evidently, numerous other hearts have been equally uplifted. “There are still gentlemen around,” commented Facebook user Carolyn Dewberry, “good job.”
“There are still good people in the world,” agreed Valerie Kane Harris, along with thousands of others. And in the end, that’s probably the most important thing any of us can remember.
