Customer's Gift to Driver Turns into $140,000 Prize
See a penny, pick it up, all day long… well, you know how the saying goes.
But what if that penny was a lottery ticket? Would you take the time to actually play it?
We all know our chances, right? Winning the jackpot is a one in a million (or more) shot.
But, clearly, you don’t have to win the top prize to rake in some serious dough. Just ask an Uber driver from Colorado who recently came out a winner again and again.
A man known as James P. was going about his business when a customer he had driven before handed him a $5 Super Special Ultimate Bingo Scratch ticket. James could have thought nothing of the ticket, but he decided to play it.
And why not? It was free and what could it hurt?
Nothing at all. That ticket put $30 in his pocket.
And the prize money only grew from there. Apparently, James “just kept rolling it over and over into more tickets.”
After weeks of playing, he walked away with a whopping $140K. I’d say that was worth the little extra time it took to play that original ticket, wouldn’t you?
While James commented that he’d driven the passenger who gifted him the $5 ticket in the past, he hasn’t yet had the opportunity to thank that person for his newfound fortune.
“I haven’t been able to find him yet and tell him about this, but I hope I do,” he shared.
His winnings may not seem like much — not even enough to purchase a house depending on what area of the country you live in — but I’d say $140K richer isn’t too shabby. It’s certainly enough to “soup up” his car, which he mentioned he’d like to do.
He also has plans to offer some of the winnings to his parents. James seems like a nice, ordinary guy who just happened to be in the right place at the right time — I’m sure he’s more than grateful he decided to turn on his Uber app and do some driving that day.
