Demi Lovato’s Life Reportedly Saved by Friends Who Administered Narcan After Alleged Overdose
So often we see former child stars featured in the news for drug or alcohol addictions. It’s disheartening to watch someone who once seemed so innocent walk down such a dark path.
While some might try to hide their struggles, former “Camp Rock” starlet Demi Lovato has continued to remain open about her many battles over the years.
In a 2015 interview with “Today” she said, “I’ve been very open about my story just because I know that the more honest and open I am, the more people that I’m going to be able to reach.”
From her war with eating and bipolar disorders to her back and forth with drug use, Lovato might seem like a terrible choice of role model for her young fans.
But perhaps it’s her openness and honesty that have made her fans even more faithful. In fact, Lovato’s songs have a history of realness to them.
Her 2013 hit, “Warrior,” revealed a dark past while her 2018 release, “Sober,” made it clear that Lovato had fallen off the sobriety wagon.
“To the ones who never left me, we’ve been down this road before. I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore,” the lyrics read.
No doubt Lovato is truly grateful for “the ones who never left” her when she was reportedly rushed to the hospital on July 24 for an apparent heroin overdose.
The overdose could have been the end for Lovato, but a source revealed she was given Narcan before the paramedics even arrived at her Los Angeles home.
Narcan is a nasal spray that blocks the effects of drugs like heroin and fentanyl for up to an hour and a half.
When issued through the nose, it helps an overdose victim breathe normally again. Though Lovato was reportedly unconscious when paramedics arrived, and her present state hasn’t been made clear, an insider told the media that the pop star is going to be “okay.”
We are unaware at this time who administered the Narcan to Lovato, but vague details have been released that allude to the idea it was a friend who saved her life.
“Her friends knew this was coming because she’s been using so much again.” an insider shared with “Us Weekly.” “But the friends acted very quickly and saved her life.”
No details have been confirmed at this time. We only know Lovato may have her friends to thank if and when she comes out of this.
2018 marked 6 years of sobriety for Lovato. Hopefully this incident will help make her stronger as she walks the road to recovery and sobriety again.
