Baby Girl with the Craziest Hair Has Gone Viral, and She's Only 7 Months Old
Everyone occasionally has the experience of suffering through a bad hair day, right? You know, those mornings where your locks simply won’t stay in the right place.
Or perhaps you suffer from my particular ailment: hair that’s simply letting go. Whenever my kids poke at the thinning section on the top of my pate, I remember that I’ll likely never have movie-star hair.
Then again, reminders of that sad fact come from the most unlikely places sometimes. Just consider Instagram’s newest star, a girl from Japan named Chanco.
Chanco’s hair can only be described as glorious. A rich, lustrous mop, it springs from her scalp in glossy waves.
Oh, how to describe it? Think of a cross between Elvis Presley and Harry Styles.
Her coiffure is like a dark, glossy wing. And if that sounds like a weird way to describe a woman’s hair, well, it is.
But Chanco isn’t a woman — at least not yet. She’s a seven-month-old infant.
Chanco was born in December 2017 in Japan, and her parents started sharing snaps of her incredible hair in May. Her mother initially called it Chanco’s hair diary.
Since then, though, it has transformed into something of a cultural phenomenon. Chanco’s Instagram account has reached 141,000 followers as of Thursday afternoon.
She isn’t the first follically blessed baby to wow the world wide web. In 2015, little Fergus Hillman was born in the United Kingdom.
The ginger baby had a full head of hair when entered the world. In fact, he looked a little like twentysomething crooner Charlie Puth.
“I was hairy, and my dad was hairy,” his mother told the Daily Mail. “I think it’s only really when you see him against other babies that you realize how hairy he is, but people generally just sort of laugh at it.”
In 2016, Mackenzie Kaplan of San Francisco, California, posted a selfie of herself and her then-two-month-old daughter Isabelle. Within 24 hours, the image had exploded all over social media.
Why? Well, because Isabelle was sporting a perfect hairdo. People compared her to a news anchor and actor Hugh Jackman in his iconic role as the superhero Wolverine.
“How does this baby have better hair than me?” one commenter complained. “I thought babies were bald.”
Bald or bristling with hair, babies are beautiful no matter the state of their scalp. Still, Chanco and her chums can’t help but make you grin.
