Days After Controversial Interview, Carrie Underwood Stuns Fans with Pregnancy Announcement
In 2005, country singer Carrie Underwood stole our hearts when she became the winner of the fourth season of American Idol.
Now, in 2018, the singer/songwriter/actress has several film credits and seven albums to her name. Among those albums is Cry Pretty, which releases in September.
The Cry Pretty single was released on April 11. The singer shared in an interview with Redbook that she tends to “get teary in church a lot because I’m moved by the message — but I never remember to bring tissues!”‘
While her recent Redbook interview was positive and upbeat, some fans did not respond well to a comment Underwood made about motherhood and pregnancy.
On first glance, some might skim right over the nonchalant comment. But Twitter users have taken her words as an opportunity to “mom shame” the country star.
When Redbook asked Underwood if she desired a big family, the singer replied, “I’m 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family.”
She went on to share that she and her husband, 38-year-old hockey player Mike Fisher, have discussed the option of adoption.
The apparent uproar over Underwood’s comment stems from some people being offended that she said she might not be able to have more kids due to her age.
#accessHollywood Exactly how did Carrie Underwood miss her chance to have more kids? She’s 35 and has more $$ than she’ll ever need!

Some Twitter users complained that Underwood has plenty of money, while others shared their offenses regarding fertility.
Still, Underwood’s true fans have come to her defense, tweeting that she didn’t mean anything by the comment and that others are reading far too much into it.
In light of the negativity spewed across social media over Underwood’s apparent controversial comment, she recently shared some positive news on Instagram regarding her 2019 Cry Pretty tour.
“Ooh baby do we have a bundle of info to share with you!” the caption on the Instagram video reads. The singer then proceeds to share her wonderful news.
“I have a lot of news to share with you guys,” she says in the video. After telling fans all about the upcoming Cry Pretty Tour 360, the camera zooms out to reveal the topic of the day.
The word “Baby” is displayed in giant silver balloons directly behind her. No doubt social media trolls will use this as yet another reason to shame the mom.
Personally, I couldn’t be more thrilled for this sweet lady. How exciting that her 3-year-old son Isaiah will be getting a new little brother or sister.
“Mike and Isaiah and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding another little fish to our pond,” she said in her video. “This has just been a dream come true.”
We wish Underwood and her family, and their new bundle, the very best as they head into this next season of life.
