Sons of Paul McCartney & John Lennon Give Fans Major Flashback with Single Photo
Raise your hand if you believe in yesterday. For big fans of The Beatles, hearing random snippets of their familiar lyrics can probably prompt instant wistfulness.
Those four English lads from Liverpool certainly stormed the scene back in 1962. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are still widely regarded as one of the most influential music groups ever.
They’re also considered one of the best-selling bands in history. Hundreds of millions of Beatles albums have been sold worldwide, in both physical and digital form.
Maybe that explains why a single selfie is making today’s social media audience swoon. After all, those “Fab Four” faces are instantly recognizable to fans around the globe.
The selfie itself is basically an affectionate shout-out to primary songwriters John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Though technically, as CBS News reported, neither one of those gentlemen is actually pictured.
McCartney, of course, still remains musically active and highly visible. Lennon, tragically, was shot and killed in December of 1980.
But their sons are very much alive. And when the two offspring recently put their heads together and posed for a quick snapshot, the resemblance was absolutely uncanny.
Musician Sean Ono Lennon posted the picture to Instagram, featuring himself and James McCartney. His simple caption only included a single word, “Peekaboo….”
But the crowd, as they say, went wild. This nostalgic image immediately sparked a sea of appreciative comments.
“You two definitely look like your famous fathers,” proclaimed one adoring fan. Another referred to the photo as “epic.”
The surprise post also sparked excited buzz about a possible musical collaboration between 42-year-old Sean and 40-year-old James. Both have proven that the proverbial apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Sean first began releasing music back in 1998. He’s also a successful record producer with his own label, and his godfather is the one and only Elton John.
James is a talented songwriter and musician, with two albums and two EPs already under his belt. A 2016 EP called “The Blackberry Train” was his most recent release.
That title alone could quickly have you humming your favorite Beatles hits from yesteryear. It almost sounds like a clever combination of the immortal “Blackbird” and “Strawberry Fields Forever.”
James is the only son of Paul and the late Linda McCartney, who passed away in 1998. Sean, the son of Lennon and Yoko Ono, has a musically gifted half-brother named Julian.
Here’s hoping this next-generation duo decides to “come together” and create some amazing new tunes. Or as one enthusiastic fan implored in an entertainingly all-caps comment, “PLEASE MAKE A SONG FOR US.”
