Mom Has No Clue Sneaky 6-Year-Old Ordered $300 of Toys Online Until Truck Shows Up
You know that feeling on Christmas morning? Close your eyes for a minute, and think back to being a kid.
You shuffle out of your bedroom in your cute footie pajamas, still bleary-eyed from your wide-awake, all-night Santa vigil. There, under the tree, you see that sparkling assortment arrayed before you.
Those bow-laden and glittering boxes beckon. They’re filled with a tantalizing collection of toys and treasures you’ve been dreaming about all year long.
Most of us never really forget that first elated reaction. Certainly, many kids probably pine away for it constantly.
And then, there are the select few. There are those young business moguls in the making, who actually figure out how to make it happen.
Sure, maybe these crafty kiddos need to break every rule in the house to achieve their goal. But why quibble over technicalities when a gargantuan pile of goodies is at stake?
6-year-old Caitlin is clearly one of those astute individuals. The Utah youngster recently figured out how to pull a fast one on her utterly unsuspecting mom.
Ria Diyaolu, Caitlin’s cousin, claims it all began with an innocent Barbie doll. She told local ABC affiliate KTVX that Caitlin’s mom let the girl celebrate her birthday by ordering the Barbie on Amazon.
Of course, whenever you rely on the internet, you want to double-check your order’s progress, right? Well, that’s at least the reasoning Caitlin used with her mother.
Caitlin casually asked if she could re-visit Amazon to confirm her gift’s estimated arrival date. That’s when she covertly used Mom’s account to purchase more than $300 worth of brand new birthday toys and games.
When did the family find out? The very next day, when a truck pulled up with all the goods. Because yeah, Caitlin was also clever enough to opt for next-day shipping.
Diyaolu couldn’t resist posting a pic of her little cousin’s super-pleased reaction on Twitter. She also included a brief caption that basically spoke volumes.
“This,” the older girl dryly proclaimed, as Caitlin smirked away in the snapshot, “is a picture of how everyone found out.”
Other photos were subsequently shared as well. Let’s just say every single one is pretty legendary.
One big box was unloaded, and then another, and then another. Eventually, the resulting tower was practically as tall as the totally unrepentant Caitlin herself.
Social media users thought all this was absolutely hysterical. Mom, for her part, was somewhat less than amused.
Buzzfeed and KTVX report that all this stellar swag is being sent straight back, and that Caitlin herself is grounded. Part of her punishment includes a month-long internet ban.
“She’s a scammer in training lol,” said Diyaolu of her young cousin, who at least got to keep the Barbie. Santa has been contacted for his take on all this, but his North Pole office tactfully refuses to comment.
