Adorable 4-Year-Old Boy Stands on Library Table & Delivers Speech to Teachers

Share

Reading is good for the mind and the soul. A book can take you to far off places while sitting in the comfort of your own home.

There’s just something about picking up a new story, maybe sniffing a page or two (yes, I smell books), and exploring new worlds and adventures.

According to Reader’s Digest, researchers claim reading is “superfood” for the brain — for both children and adults.

“…findings… suggest children as young as six months who read books with their parents several times a week show stronger literacy skills four years later, score higher on intelligence tests, and land better jobs than nonreaders,” the article says.

Sadly, a recent study conducted by the Pew Research Center in Washington, DC showed that almost a quarter of Americans admitted they hadn’t read a book in the past year.

Jimmy Kimmel decided to test this study and take it to the streets, asking random people to “name a book. Any book.” The results of the video survey were hilarious and sort of shocking.

For those who might be asking, “But is reading really THAT important? Why would I read when there are so many other things I could be doing?”

If the research and studies aren’t enough to convince you, perhaps you’ll listen to a 4-year-old’s thoughts on the matter.

Does this kid's speech make you want to read more?

Caleb Stewart isn’t even old enough to enter kindergarten yet, but he’s got a career in motivational speaking in his future.

Known as “Master Caleb,” he and his sister, “Queen Olivia,” are the faces of “Brilliant Little Leaders” — “Kid dreamers that love to read [and] learn and have fun doing it.”

These two love to motivate and inspire others “to dream big and believe in themselves.” Recently, Caleb took to a new stage — the table of a library.

This young man’s speech on the importance of reading is powerful. The boy stood before middle school teachers to deliver his speech for back to school training.

He has so much wisdom and he’s only 4 years old! In two weeks this viral Facebook video has invited 5 million views.

“I personally read every day,” he says. “And absolutely love the adventure of reading… reading every day has made me smarter. Reading has also strengthened my vocabulary and language skills.”

You can’t deny, this kid’s got a point. He’s quite something, that’s for sure. I love him! If his speech doesn’t make you want to read more, I don’t know what will!
