Photo of 4 Boys Rushing into Football Game Goes Viral When National Anthem Starts Playing

Share

Every football game starts with a patriot moment, but oftentimes the most patriotic acts happen when it is least expected.

For Mike Ullery Jr., that moment happened in the parking lot of the of Bullock Creek High School in Midland, Michigan, according to CBS News.

As Ullery rushed to get his seats for the high school football game, he saw four boys who showed patriotism at its finest.

The four teenagers were heading to the game, late just like Ullery. As the boys rushed along, the national anthem started to play.

While most kids would continue on their way, these boys stopped dead in their tracks to salute the flag and show respect for their country.

The boys remained in the parking lot for the entire song; they removed their hats and placed their hands over their hearts in respect and admiration for the country.

The patriotic act shocked Ullery in such a way that he had to capture the moment with a photo.

“I was impressed by these Bullock Creek boys,” Ullery wrote on Facebook. “Running late to the game they heard the National Anthem and stopped, took off their hats and placed hands over heart.”

Do you think teenagers still have respect for their country?

He captioned the photo, “Respect.”

“I was just proud of them, so I just snapped a picture and hoped it would get back to them when I posted it on Facebook,” Ullery told CBS News.

Since Ullery posted the photo, it has gone viral, and soon he was able to locate the boys.

“I had no idea who they were,” Ullery told CBS News. “I didn’t find out who they were until they commented on my Facebook post.”

Parents from Bullock Creek commented on the Facebook post and helped Ullery track down the teenage boys.

Soon Ullery was able to identify Dakota Lehner, Mikiah Lehner, Taylor Cox, and Collin Hitchingham as the respectful young men in the photo.

Commenters on Ullery’s post were just as impressed with the patriotism of these boys. One commenter said, “Great kids.” Another wrote, “Impressive. Great parenting!”

While Ullery had the foresight to capture the moment with his camera, these boys showed that respect for your country comes first. Thank you to these young men for showing that there is still respect for this country.
