Mom of Five Dies After Pulling Children and Husband from House Fire
Most mothers would do anything to save their families. Even if it came to laying down her own life, a good mother is willing to make that sacrifice.
One wife and mother from Rock Hill, South Carolina, is being hailed a heroine after risking her own life to save those of her five children and husband.
Thirty-five-year-old Yolanda Robinson Isom only recently married her partner of over 10 years, Latavuis Isom. She was a new bride who faced an unthinkable tragedy.
According to The Herald, a fire at the Isom home in Rock Hill started it all. It is unknown at this time what caused the fire, but we do know one thing:
Yolanda was a selfless woman. She reportedly went back into her burning home to save her husband and children.
Latavuis and the children were reported injured, but sadly Yolanda did not survive the fire. First responders pulled her to safety, but it was too late.
This amazing woman died on Sept. 29 after saving the lives of those she loved. Those who knew her shared some sentiments with The Herald about their heroic friend.
“Our neighborhood is in mourning for this wonderful woman…” her neighbor, Belinda McClure, told The Herald. “There is a family that lost everything and we all have to help them.”
“Yolanda was a wonderful person, caring and loved… She died a hero,” Stanley Dillard said. Dillard is the chair of the committee for caring at Pruitt Health where Yolanda worked as a nursing assistant.
Her funeral is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 9 at noon. Family and friends will gather in memorial at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Rock Hill.
A GoFundMe campaign has also been initiated. Anyone interested in donating to help this family with funeral costs is invited to contribute.
As of Oct. 5, Yolanda’s husband and three of their sons remain in recovery at the burn center in Augusta, Georgia. “We are still praying for all to recover,” Gwen Isom Singletary, Latavuis’ mother, told The Herald.
Our hearts and prayers go out to this grieving family for all they have lost. Yolanda seems like she was a truly wonderful woman. It is clear she will be sorely missed.
