Groomsmen Perform Incredible Rendition of Newlywed's Favorite Song 'Stand by Me'

Some love songs come and go. Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” popular a decade ago, has since been replaced with Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.”

But there are some tunes that stand the test of time. Elvis Presley’s “Unchained Melody” or Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” remain ever popular.

Then there is Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me.” First released in 1961, this R&B anthem has been used in films and weddings time and time again.

Listed as no. 83 in popularity on Billboard’s list of “Wedding DJs’ 100 Most Popular Songs,” the ballad remains number one in the hearts of some.

Bustle, for instance, listed six iconic times the song has been heard in film and on television. “Stand By Me,” the film version of Stephen King’s “The Body,” may be the most recognized.

However, I tend to sway more on the side of the more lighthearted moments. Timon and Pumbaa’s rendition is one of my favorites.

Recently, the melody was performed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding on May 19, 2018.

Karen Gibson and Kingdom Choir’s spectacular performance of “Stand By Me” gave the world chills. I am still moved every time I listen to this version.

While it seems as if nothing can quite top this most royal of performances, a group of groomsmen has definitely made an impact with their a cappella rendition.

With over 300,000 views as of Tuesday moring, this viral video has invited quite a bit of attention, particularly from soon-to-be newlyweds in the comments.

Quite a few commenters have tagged their Facebook friends, hoping to encourage a similar performance for their own nuptials.

Watch as this quartet nails it with no background music at all. I wish I could see the bride and groom’s faces while they sang.

According to the video’s caption on Facebook, “These groomsmen surprised the bride and groom with an (a cappella) version of their (favorite) song.”

That would certainly be a surprise to remember. What a great way to celebrate an important day! These groomsmen definitely earned their round of applause.
