Little Two-Legged Dog Named 'Noel' Is a Christmas Miracle After Being Hit by Car
Christmas miracles are some of the best around. One Christmas miracle has proven that living life to its fullest doesn’t always look the way you might expect.
A sweet little dog named Noel should never have lived to see the 2017 holiday season. But Christmas is a time when the impossible becomes just the opposite.
Most likely injured by a car in November of that year, the pup was found and taken to Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield, California.
“She was brought to us by a good Samaritan — injured with two broken front legs,” Nicholas Cullen, the animal services director, told TODAY. One of those legs was initially amputated.
Cullen explained to TODAY that the shelter makes “a significant effort to save each and every animal that comes to us.”
Because of this, the shelter referred to Marely’s Mutts, a private group that could hopefully give Noel more focused care and attention.
Rather than have the sweet dog put down, Zach Skow, founder of Marley’s Mutts, made the decision to have Noel’s other injured leg amputated, leaving her with only two legs and what some considered low quality of life.
But Skow had a different outlook entirely. “We got a lot of negative feed back,” he told 23 ABC Bakersfield. “A lot of people saying you need to put this dog to sleep, you need to put her out of her misery.”
When you see Noel, however, you will see she was anything but miserable. “She can go up stairs. She can give love and she can receive love. Perhaps she can be of more service than most any other dog with four legs,” Skow shared with ABC.
Watch as Noel happily plays, exuding the true spirit and meaning of her name — Christmas. She is certainly a delight to behold.
I’d go as far to say that this two-legged pup has more joy and spunk than most four-legged dogs I’ve seen. “She hasn’t just adapted. She is thriving,” Skow told TODAY.
