Watch Wife's Sweet Reaction After Husband Gives Her Golden Retriever Puppy for Christmas

Share

Golden retrievers are some of the best dogs on the planet. They’re known to be lovable and loyal, which more than makes up for their tendency to shed.

Bestselling suspense author Dean Koontz agrees. In his thriller, “The Darkest Evening of the Year,” he wrote, “Golden retrievers are not bred to be guard dogs … considering the size of their hearts and their irrepressible joy in life, they are less likely to bite than to bark, less likely to bark than to lick a hand in greeting.”

This quote describes this faithful breed perfectly. Despite the fact this is taken from a work of fiction, the simple truth remains that goldens are known to be loyal until the end.

Koontz clearly draws from his real life experience with his own golden retriever, Anna. Photos of the pup are sprinkled throughout his Facebook account.

An article from Huffington Post suggests the fact that goldens are … goldens … really has a lot to do with science and genetics.

While there’s no guarantee that choosing one breed over another will land you the perfect pup, goldens are generally known to be “personable and biddable.”

Just ask their owners. There will always be that one dog who ruins it for the rest of them, but overall I think it’s safe to say golden retrievers have remained a favorite for numerous pet owners over the years.

Have you ever been surprised with a new fuzzy friend?

If you just so happen to not be a golden retriever person, one woman’s reaction to her special Christmas surprise just might change your mind.

When she came home one day, her husband had his camera ready and rolling. “Mom, I gotta go,” she says into the phone when she realizes something is up.

“I got you an early Christmas gift,” he says. You can almost hear the mischief and joy behind his words even though his face is hidden.

The woman’s face lights up and she even suspects the gift is a puppy. The moment she meets her new friend for the first time will warm your heart. This may just be the best video we’ve seen this season!

Yes, goldens are a “golden” breed, if there is such a thing. We wish this family and their new friend all the cheer this season as they celebrate together.
