Santa Visits Tiny Babies in NICU, Results in Adorable Christmas Photo Shoot

Share

Travel around the world in one night? How does Santa Claus do it? He can’t possibly visit every child everywhere, right?

It depends on how you look at old Jolly Old Saint Nick. If you look at him as one person, as one man, then you’d be correct in saying the feat is impossible.

But if you look at Santa as more of an idea than an actual person, and take a new perspective on who he is, you might find he really can be everywhere — all at once.

If Santa represents a stranger’s kindness, the compassion of a friend or the love of a child, then the legend is as real as you or I.

Santa Claus in his truest form made a special visit to the babies of the NICU at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Many of these children will spend their first Christmas hooked up to machines and monitors. But Father Christmas, as some call him, decided to stop by and make the time a little brighter for the newborns — and more importantly their parents.

Spectrum Health shared the photos with captions on Health Beat. These sweet tiny babies are a sight to behold — the true miracles of the season.

“Santa came to visit Raelynn,” Morgan Rhodes wrote on Facebook. Little Raelynn was captured wearing an American Girl doll outfit, ice skates and all.

She’s so tiny! She looks like a doll herself, nestled in Santa’s arms. What a sweet memory this family can cherish forever!

Other newborns got to sit on Santa’s lap, too. They’ve all most definitely made the nice list, and no doubt Santa Claus would agree.

“Families love it,” the March of Dimes family support program coordinator Amy Nyberg told Health Beat. “Santa comes and they are able to hit that milestone and have that memory of baby’s first photo taken with Santa.”

Two-day-old Gabriel Kulakowski was one of Santa’s very own helpers in his elf costume. Do you think he could be related to Buddy? He sure looks like it!

There’s a reason the holiday season is called “the most wonderful time of the year.” People like this Santa Claus make it wonderful each and every time they give some of themselves for the happiness of others.

We wish all the babies and their parents a very Merry Christmas. And to Santa Claus, thank you for showing so much love and compassion and for reminding us why it’s so important to believe.
