Little Boy Empties Piggy Bank, Gives Every Cent To Help Homeless Animals
How did you celebrate this Christmas season?
For many folks, getting together with family and friends is right at the top of their festivity list. Even those who prefer more solitary activities often count on a cozy living area, and perhaps a few favorite comfort foods.
But for pets who have been abandoned, “comfort” comes nowhere close to describing their holiday experience. Most are alone and frightened, with uncertain futures.
This holiday season, a little boy named Harry Gallagher decided to do everything he could for these innocent animals.
According to WANE.com, Harry felt inspired to help after watching a movie with his grandma that mentioned animal shelters.
Harry’s mom said that he chose to give away all of his money to help.
“I took all the money in my piggy bank and donated it to the puppies and kitties,” Harry explained.
The little boy’s stash totaled $20, but when other family members got wind of Harry’s plan, they helped increase the haul to $100.
The determined little guy then pooled everything together, and made his plan.
Ultimately, he decided to donate his money to the nearby Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. It was the Friday right before Christmas, and he wanted those pets to know he remembered them.
“This was the absolute sweetest,” read a grateful Facebook post from shelter staff members. “We’re so thankful Harry chose to help the animals in our shelter!”
Almost instantly, the post received dozens of likes, loves and shares. But a humble Harry knew exactly what he wanted to do next.
In return for his generosity, Harry only asked that he be allowed to meet some of the shelter’s dogs and cats. And true to his caring heart, he gave them some comforting holiday snuggles in person.
