After Little Girl's Birthday Cake Is Ruined, Firefighters Show Up with New One
When first responders go above and beyond the call of duty, it warms our hearts and reminds us of the good in our local communities.
Many a story can be found in which police officers, firefighters and paramedics went out of their way to make a difference in someone’s life.
When a man on his deathbed in Queensland, Australia, wanted one last caramel sundae before saying goodbye, his EMTs granted his wish gladly, even though it wasn’t technically part of their job.
When a little boy scraped his knee in the parking lot of a movie theater, the police officer nearby could have decided he had better things to do with his time.
Instead, the hero cop swooped in and saved the 4-year-old’s day, not only mending the scrape but letting him try on his cool gear, too!
And when it looked like a little girl from Wisconsin might not have a cake for her birthday, one fire department stepped in to make sure that didn’t happen.
In 2016, the Monroe Fire Department responded to a call “for the report of a possible stove fire,” according to a Facebook post.
“Upon arrival there was no fire, but a burnt electrical smell,” the department wrote. “During the investigation it was determined that there was a birthday cake in the oven. The cake did not have a chance to finish cooking.”
This is where the story takes a turn. Rather than be on their way, this group of firefighters provided a new cake for the 4-year-old.
“Thanks to the Dairy Queen in Monroe, the fire department was able to give the girl a cake and sing happy birthday to her,” the caption reads. “It sure made her 4th birthday memorable.”
No doubt about that fact. Even years later, I’ll bet this little girl remembers the day those heroes came to save her birthday.
