Woman Allegedly Told by Trainer Dog Died, Uncovers Twisted Web of Lies - And She's Not Alone
When you leave your beloved pet in someone else’s care, you expect them to love that furry friend just as if they were their own.
It’s similar to leaving your child with a daycare provider or even sending them off to school. One can only hope they will be loved and nurtured as they would be at home.
Sadly, this isn’t always the case. One pet trainer has been accused by several clients of either abusing, killing or selling their dogs.
The man is Hunter Nelson of 4-Legged Retrievers. Interestingly enough, since people started to come forward, his social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have been deleted.
According to a viral Facebook post by Rachel Tyrer, Nelson was supposed to train her dog Ollie “for a 4 week basic obedience program.” This took place in August of 2018.
“DO NOT TRUST HUNTER NELSON,” the post begins. Tyrer goes on to explain the situation in detail, her frustrations over dealing with Nelson and the eventual death/disappearance of Ollie.
“We had (midday) training appointments scheduled several times,” Tyrer writes, “which ended in Hunter never showing up and/or having excuses to reschedule.”
The constant rescheduling turned even more suspicious when Tyrer could not arrange to get her dog back. This was allegedly followed with more excuses.
A series of text messages between Tyrer and Nelson revealed much more. The supposed dog trainer claimed Ollie had been bitten by a snake and taken to a vet.
In the end, Tyrer says Nelson claimed the dog died of a cotton mouth bite and was buried. “He is continually trying to pay me off to not post anything on Facebook or social media,” Tyrer says.
“I don’t even know where my Ollie is at, if he really did die, if he is suffering still in Hunter’s care, or was sold,” she goes on.
The post has been spreading like wildfire, shared over 7,700 times as of Thursday afternoon. And, according to NEA Report, Tyrer is not alone.
While some reviewers have shared about their positive experiences with the trainer, multiple accounts of similar horrifying circumstances have been shared. The owners’ stories seem too identical to Tyrer’s to be a coincidence.
Corbin Wake from Missouri had dealings with Nelson over the summer. His dog Coot was also supposedly bitten by a snake.
Wake’s girlfriend, Courtney Roberts, shared their experience in a Facebook post. She also shared text messages with Nelson. Thankfully, Coot was returned in this scenario.
Multiple other owners have come forward, reporting their dogs had either been starved, never trained or died/ not returned.
Many reviews have popped up on Yelp, warning dog owners to steer clear of 4-Legged Retrievers in Paragould, Arkansas. 4-Legged Retrievers Review page has a number of anti-recommendations. Nelson has been called a “liar” and a “thief.”
NEA Report also recounted Tyrer’s story in detail. “I don’t want anyone else to suffer,” she told NEA. “It’s been horrible trying to deal with him and get over the loss of a family member.”
