Video: Firefighters Use 'Makeshift Trampoline' To Save Cat Stuck Up Tree
After an orange cat named Rory got hopelessly stuck in a tree, firefighters from the Wilmslow Fire Station in the U.K. came to the rescue.
Rory the cat fit the perfect cat-climbing-tree stereotype when he got stuck high in the branches of a tree in the village of Over Alderley, near Macclesfield, Cheshire.
Like many cats, Rory managed to successfully climb to the top of the tree — but the thought of climbing down left him frozen in fear.
Luckily for Rory, a group of humans decided to lend a hand.
First, firefighters from the Wilmslow Fire Station climbed a ladder in an attempt to coax Rory down, Metro News reported.
But the tactic didn’t work for Rory, so firefighters had to solve the problem another way.

The rescue team found a large sheet and pulled it taut, standing underneath Rory, who was precariously perched atop thin branches.
Eventually, Rory had to make a move. As he tried to come down, the weak branch began to sway.
Rory was left clinging to the branch, swaying back and forth in the air.
He eyed the improvised trampoline below and must have decided it was now or never.
The cat gathered his courage and let go of the branch, falling right into the center of the trampoline.
He landed on his feet, of course, and quickly scampered away unharmed.
Rory didn’t show a shred of gratitude for the rescue — as we all know, cats typically do not thank humans for anything.
And maybe, perhaps, Rory was a tad embarrassed and eager to run away.
The rescue team cheered as they watched Rory dash away uninjured, and posted the short video clip to Twitter.
“That’s one small step for a cat, one giant leap for catkind!” the station captioned the video.
The station added that Rory’s scenario was “definitely one our most challenging rescues, but we persevered and got the job done.”
