Dad Creates Time Lapse Showing Preemie Baby Born at Just 25 Weeks Grow into Healthy Baby

Share

With so much talk about legalizing late-term abortions in multiple states, and with the recent bill passed in New York, it seems like the most appropriate time to take a serious look at a pre-term baby’s life.

Father and filmmaker Benjamin Scott may just have captured preemie life more beautifully than anyone has done before when he documented his son Ward’s first year.

On July 16, 2012, Ward Scott was born three and a half months before his due date. The first time his mom, Lyndsey, got to hold him is possibly the most precious thing I have ever witnessed, aside from holding my own children, of course.

Just to give you an idea of how small my little guy is…

“He is a fighter,” Scott wrote in an Instagram post. Little Ward was so tiny, but still so full of life. Watching him grow, there is no doubt he is a fighter indeed.

“We have faith that it’s going to be okay,” Scott wrote in another caption. “God is good.”

This family continued in faith and love, hoping one day soon their little guy would come home.

Do you know a family with a preemie baby?

Ward spent 107 days in the NICU. When the day came for this precious guy to go home on Oct. 31, 2012, there were probably immeasurable tears that spilled during that car ride.

Watch this tearjerking video focused on mama and baby. This dad is certainly talented. Get ready to cry — the clips are fittingly set to The Fray’s “Happiness.”

I was a goner with the very first clip of mom and baby. By the end of the montage, I couldn’t help but cuddle my own baby boy.

So much sweet love and tenderness are shown here. To watch Ward go from so weak and helpless to a strong and healthy baby boy was everything. Now he’s a happy Kindergartener!

We’re so grateful for the gift of life. Watching Ward’s first year unfold is a truly touching reminder that no matter how old a baby is, they all deserve a fighting chance.

It was Dr. Seuss who wrote, “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” Simple words but so profound at the same time.

Ward’s story is just one of many. Through this video, this dad captured the miracle of life, and life truly is a miracle. Let’s hope we never forget it.
