Police Officer Gets Stuck Deep in Snow During Welfare Check, Then Good Samaritans Save the Day
There has been harsh winter weather in many states lately. Snow and ice have put many in danger over the course of the season.
A deputy of the Ferry County Sheriff’s Office in Washington found himself stuck in the snow while doing a welfare check after a student was reported absent from school for several days.
The snow on the road was so bad, the deputy’s vehicle ended up in a tight situation, according to the Ferry County Sheriff’s Office.
“A Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Officer who was close by attempted to assist and was soon stuck as well,” FCSO says.
But then their luck turned and, according to FCSO’s post on Facebook, some good Samaritans came to the rescue.
“Eventually some good samaritans from Malo arrived with some block and tackle and got everyone moving again. Many thanks to them.”
Once the vehicles got moving again, the deputy was reportedly able to check on the absent student.
Snow, understandably, was the reason for the absences.
This isn’t the first time a kind stranger has helped an officer in need, either. There are many stories that involve a citizen rising above to serve.
A man from Birmingham, Alabama, was caught on camera holding an umbrella over a saluting deputy as it rained during a fallen officer’s procession.
“I didn’t know he was there,” Deputy Tiffany Dial told WMTV. “My peripheral vision was cut off with my hat, so I didn’t know anything was there. I was in my moment.”

While there is no doubt the brave men and women who serve our communities are heroes day in and day out, it is comforting to see when regular everyday citizens step in to help, too.
And it’s not just the police they’re helping either. A good Samaritan is self-giving no matter the time or the place and wants the best in every circumstance.
