McDonald's Employee Pulls Money Out of Own Pocket After Woman Forgets Wallet at Work

Share

At what kind of business do you expect to get the best possible service? It’s someplace high-end and tony, right?

I mean, we think that luxury car dealerships and restaurants with Michelin stars and the first-class section of airplanes will cater to our needs. But bargain establishments? Not so much.

However, a recent case out of Reading, Ohio, might have you reconsidering. An area woman got the best service possible — from McDonald’s.

According to WKRC, Aundrea Duncan had stopped by a local golden arches for a quick bite. She went into the restaurant, waited in line, and made her order at the register, just like you’d expect.

She ran into a problem, though, when it came time to pay. See, when the McDonald’s employee provided her total, Duncan realized she didn’t have her wallet.

“Friday was a long day at work,” Duncan wrote on Facebook. “I didn’t get a lunch.

“After leaving the barn around 9 I stopped by the McDonald’s in Reading, (Ohio) to grab some dinner. I ordered my food, but realized as I got to the window to pay, I had left my wallet at work.”

Duncan did the only reasonable thing. She asked the employee to cancel her order and prepared herself for a hungry evening.

Much to her surprise, the employee said, “It’s okay, ma’am. I got you.”

His name was Jeremiah, and he had something more honest in mind than surreptitiously sliding the hungry woman some free food. Instead, he took out his wallet and paid for her meal right then and there.

A shocked and grateful Duncan asked Jeremiah if she could take his picture. Then she shared it on social media.

“What an amazing young man!” she wrote. “We hear so much about what’s wrong with the world I had to share a little of what is right. … He didn’t know how tired I was or that I hadn’t eaten or even if he would be repaid, but he didn’t even bat an eye and just acted.”

As of publication time, the post has garnered nearly 4,000 shares and over 1,000 comments. Numerous people praised the young man for his selflessness.

“Yes, there are some good young people out there but we only get to hear of the bad,” one user wrote. “Well done, young man.”

Another added, “What a kind and generous young man! I bet his parents are bursting at the seams with pride!”

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, Duncan returned to the McDonald’s a day or two later to repay Jeremiah. She also said that his family had contacted her.

“His mom also reached out thanking me,” she said, “which was nice because as a mom of two young men I wanted her to know what he did for me and that she is doing something right. As moms we all need to hear that.”
