Miracle: 150-Year-Old Bible Survives Fire, Pastor Reveals It Also Survived Blaze in 1959

It is amazing what kind of objects survive fires. We would expect some items to come out discolored but otherwise undamaged, but when paper goods are preserved, it is nothing short of a miracle.

Consider what happened to Scot Byrd of Bon Secour, Alabama. Byrd hasn’t exactly enjoyed a carefree life, according to WALA.

Not only did his daughter have to fight off leukemia in 2014, but he also experienced a house fire in January that destroyed everything in his home. Well, it destroyed almost everything.

“The fireman actually came out (of the home) with tears in his eyes, and he said you’re not going to believe this you’ve gotta come see it for yourself,” Byrd said. A Bible given to Byrd by his grandfather had survived the conflagration.

He took it as a sign that God would carry him through his troubles.

“We don’t give up,” he said.

Fox News reported that Tyler, Texas, resident Charles House experienced something similar. House had converted a storage unit into a home, so when a fire broke out in the small space, it did a lot of damage.

Everything within was destroyed by fire or smoke, but his Bible survived.

“He said His word would not perish, and the Bible did not burn,” House said. “It was scorched, but it did not burn.”

A Bible connected to two different church congregations somehow made it through not one, but two blazes.

There was a fire at the Springs United Methodist Church in Plover, Wisconsin, on March 18, according to the Stevens Point Journal.

Though the facility was only lightly smoking when first responders arrived, it soon became a powerful fire. Firefighters battled it for hours.

When they finally got the fire put out, the said that the facility was likely a “total loss.” The display Bible at the church made it through the fire.

Pastor Tim O’Brien said, “It’s a great testament to our faith that stands strong even in the midst of this.”

What’s more, Fox News reported that the Bible had survived an earlier fire that had destroyed St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, in 1959.

“It’s a miracle that the Bible has been saved twice,” church member Judy Hill said. “It makes everyone feel good. Everyone was worried about the Bible. That was the first thing everyone asked about.”
