Two Friends Discover They’re Really Brothers, Mothers in Same Church Choir Had No Idea
I always refer to my closest girlfriends as my “sisters.” If I found out one of them was actually a biological sister, I would jump for joy.
Those without siblings often wonder what it would be like to have a built-in friend. Someone who is always there to confide in or play with.
Walt Gordy and Mark Tolson both grew up as the only child in their homes. Both admitted they wished for a sibling of their own.

“I used to ask my mom over and over,” 36-year-old Tolson told Inside Edition. “I want a brother or a sister … when can we have one?”
Little did Tolson know, he would be in for a big surprise when he got older. He and 37-year-old Gordy met through a mutual friend.
The meeting might seem like chance, but later on it looked a lot more like providence. The two friends grew close and eventually took a 23andMe DNA test.
Both Gordy’s and Tolson’s mothers became pregnant through artificial insemination. But what are the odds those women would go to the same fertility center and have babies via the exact same donor?
Unlikely, perhaps, but not impossible. And this is exactly what happened for friends-turned-brothers Gordy and Tolson.
What’s more, their mothers sing in the same church choir together. This family was more tight knit than they ever realized — I’m calling this one a divine appointment.
The brothers told Today they’d known each other 12 years before discovering the truth about their biological relationship.
“All the pain, all the hurt that I went through … was all worth it knowing that I have a blessing at the end,” Gordy told Today.
“I always wanted a sibling,” Gordy told Inside Edition. “I always wanted it and it never happened. “With him, it was immediate love.”
This is truly an amazing story of strong friendship and brotherly love. It just goes to show that familial bonds sometimes go much deeper than we ever expect.
Here’s to many more years of learning what it’s like to have a sibling! I hope these brothers remain close and that this miracle has reminded them just how special family can be.
