Toddler Born 9 Weeks Premature Gets Disney Princess Send-off from Hospital
Most little girls dream of being a fairy tale princess someday. At just 23 months old, Emma Krall is all princess and more.
Emma has faced so much at such a young age, but she’s still smiling and bringing joy to everyone she meets.
Born 9 weeks premature with a disorder known as campomelic dysplasia, Emma has spent more time in the hospital than at home.
Emma and her mom, Rachael Krall, have certainly found ways to pass the time. One of those pastimes includes watching Disney Princess movies together.
“We watch Disney movies all the time at our house and the hospital,” Krall told Good Morning America. “Emma has always loved flowers and pink and really anything girly.”
Emma’s mom noted her favorites include “The Little Mermaid” and “Tangled.” So, what better way to send her home from Seattle Children’s Hospital than to bring Rapunzel in for a visit?
Finally ready to go home in May following spinal surgery in April, Emma was prepared to meet the long-haired princess in style. Emma’s halo was decorated with flowers and a crown.
“Rapunzel is Emma’s favorite princess, as she has a flower crown too!” Krall told Liftable, a section of The Western Journal. “And an adventurous spirit as well.”

Emma is unable to speak, but her smiles and playfulness said everything and more.
“I feel like she has always liked Disney princesses,” Krall shared with Liftable. “They are always so happy and brave, and I think she sees that.”
The doctors and nurses got in on the fun too. “Look at my magic wand,” Dr. Klane K. White, Emma’s Orthopedic Surgeon, told KCPQ. “We do not put on a tiara just for anyone. Emma is special that way.”
Special indeed, and now she’s finally at home where she belongs! “Emma has been home about 3 weeks now. She is loving it!” Krall told Liftable. “She even got to see and touch the ocean with her toes last week for the first time.”
Krall added that she hopes to take a family trip to Disneyland in the future. For now, Emma is happy just to be right where she is.
As for other parents who have children facing life-threatening disorders, Krall wants to encourage them to “look for the small victories each day.”
“Keep your head up,” she shared with Liftable. “Keep positive, even though it is really difficult… Emma has been such a joy in our lives and continues to be happy. It makes me realize that I can be happy no matter what too.”
