After Reportedly Falling 50 Feet and Hitting His Head on Concrete, Painter Miraculously Recovers

Share

A woman from Virginia is calling her husband “a walking miracle” after he reportedly fell 50 feet from a ladder onto hard concrete.

Dave Keep owns his own painting company in Franklin County. On Oct. 23, 2018, his world was shaken after the scaffolding his ladder was on fell over and he landed head first on the concrete.

His family wondered if he would survive.

Bleeding and not breathing, Keep was airlifted to a hospital, but his odds didn’t look good. The family prayed and reached out to their community to pray as well.

“We are seeing God move because of [prayer],” Katie Holt, Keep’s daughter, wrote on Facebook the day of the accident.

Even so, Holt admitted her own fears in an interview with WSLS-TV.

“I almost just lost all hope,” she said. “The whole time I just kept yelling at him to hang on.”

But, miraculously, Keep was in a coma for just three days before waking. Despite the trauma to his brain and the long road ahead, the painter was recovering.

“I had such an overwhelming sense of gratitude just to be alive, and gratitude that my family was still here,” Keep told WSLS.

“When I realized the trauma they had endured and the pain that all of them had endured … it was difficult, difficult to accept that.”

Through it all, Keep’s family remained at his side.

“We’re not guaranteed the next minute,” his wife, Julia Keep, told WSLS.

“We don’t know what we’ve got with our loved ones, so I’m determined to enjoy and make the most out of every minute.”

“I have so very much to be thankful for,” Julia Keep wrote on Facebook shortly after her husband’s injury.

“My sweet hubby is alive … I can feel and see God through the hands and feet of his people … The least I can do is praise my Savior for all He has done and continues to do for me and my family.”

It appears this sweet family is soaking up every single moment they have together. According to WSLS, Keep is a little more laid back now, joking around and even “pranking” his family.
