Carrie Underwood's Husband Shares Testimony and Desperate Moment He Turned Life Over to God
It’s no secret that award-winning country music star Carrie Underwood keeps her Christian faith front and center.
Her husband Mike Fisher — former NHL pro — opened up about his faith journey in 2014, and the long road he’s traveled to get to where he is today.

In the past, Fisher got real with CBN, admitting to the Christian media outlet that there was a time in his life when he looked at hockey like a “god.”
“It kind of became a little bit my god,” Fisher shared. “I was still a Christian and still, but I wasn’t really where I needed to be and I wasn’t living in the spirit. For a period of time, I got focused on hockey and that kind of led me astray a little bit.”

Though he grew up in a Christian home, Fisher struggled like all believers do. Some things became more important than his spiritual relationship.
It wasn’t until the athlete was 22 that he realized he needed more than just a great sports career to make him feel fulfilled.
“I kind of said okay, that’s enough, I need to start focusing,” Fisher told CBN. “God’s given me this unique gift, I’m living a dream here, and, you know, I’ve got to start focusing on him, using those gifts and sharing it, with others.”
And that’s just what he’s doing. Fisher opened up about some of his darkest times in life to “I Am Second” — a film project that shares stories of hope and redemption in Christ from those in the spotlight.
The “White Chair Film” features Fisher recalling several times in his life when he knew he needed more. He accepted Christ at the age of 6, but still had much more growing to do in his walk.
“At 6 it’s, I don’t know if you really understand everything. You definitely don’t, but it’s definitely a start,” Fisher said in the video.
Fisher explained that as he rose to the top in his career, he found himself “trying to pretend like everything was great,” but felt he was “letting God down.”
It was during a Bible study with his cousin that things really started to change in Fisher’s heart. He mentioned the scripture from Luke 9:23-25.
“It says, ‘If you want to be a follower of me you have to put aside your own selfish desires, shoulder your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself you will lose it, but if you give up your life for me you will find true life. What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process?’ I remember that scripture just kinda hittin’ me,” Fisher said.
“I’d reached my dreams, I had money and everything I thought was cool and it just wasn’t working. and I knew the answer but I hadn’t been looking for it in the right places. And through a process of just praying and getting in the Word with my cousin, my life was changed. For the first time I remember thinking “Man, this is really real.'”
“It didn’t happen overnight, but slowly God started changing me on the inside,” he added.
In the end, something Fisher mentioned in his CBN interview rings so true for any married couple of faith. “A couple that prays together stays together, I love that because that’s so true,” he said.
Mike Fisher and Carrie Underwood have been married since July 2010 and have two beautiful children together.
