Farrah Fawcett's Loved Ones Recall Star's Final Days As 10-Year Aniversary of Death Approaches
On June 25, 2009, a beloved actress and timeless Hollywood icon said goodbye after battling terminal anal cancer.
Farrah Fawcett was 62 the day she took her last breath. Now, 10 years later, the ones she left behind are remembering all the smiles the golden-haired gal brought into their lives.
Fawcett started her career in the spotlight with a modeling contract in 1968, but it wasn’t until she landed her role in “Charlie’s Angels” that she began her claim to fame.
Soon the starlet was appearing in films and launching her own brand of shampoo, according to her “The Farrah Fawcett Foundation” bio. Her hair certainly stood out and made her immediately recognizable in the public eye.

Sadly, during her battle with cancer, Fawcett began to lose her hair. This was perhaps one of the most heartbreaking things of all.
“She had done everything to keep from losing [her hair],” Fawcett’s dear friend Alana Stewart told ABC News. “And she hadn’t. She still had her fabulous hair. The last round of chemo she had lost her hair. And that was hard for her.”

No one ever expected their favorite “Angel” to fall ill and pass at such a young age. “Farrah was the Golden Girl to everyone so it was such a shock, to the whole world, when she got cancer,” Stewart added. “It kind of goes to show you that you know, cancer doesn’t play favorites.”
But rather than let her diagnosis get the best of her, Fawcett fought back. Her journey was shared in a recent documentary.
There was a time during her battle that Fawcett learned her tumors were gone. She started to feel better and hoped for the best.
But in 2008, more tragic news was given — more tumors had been found.
“When she heard that news she was crushed,” Stewart told ABC News. “And Ryan put his arms around her. But she didn’t break down. That wasn’t Farrah.”
Stewart also added that “during the worst times… we still had fun.”

Fawcett was once married to actor Lee Majors, but it was actor Ryan O’Neal who held the key to her heart. The pair never married but have a son together, 34-year-old Redmond.
It was her son that Fawcett was most concerned about before she died, PEOPLE reported.
“She was saying his name, ‘Redmond.’ That was the last thing she said,” friend Mela Murphy told the magazine.
A loving mother and a faithful friend, Farrah Fawcett remains one of the most iconic faces in Hollywood history. She will be remembered as a fighter both on and off set.
