At this stage she was already responding to my voice, kicking me when she was uncomfortable, had her own fingerprints, finger and toenails, and she sure as heck felt pain.

Her last moments were spent violently thrashing as I learned later she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice.

As the oxygen was cut off to her brain she thrashed violently for several minutes in my belly fighting for her life.

I’ve had 3 pregnancies, once with twins and I’d never felt that kind of thrashing — ever.

This story was published with permission from the author, Anna Headley Brasic, and originally appeared on her Facebook page. Brasic is a mother from Houston, Texas. Cayden Avery was due November 3, 2018, but her life was tragically cut short on July 25, 2018. She was 13-7/8” long and weighed 1 lb. 8oz. Brasic shared the photographs after seeing so many claims that an unborn baby “is not a baby.” She hopes that by sharing her story it can help make a difference for others.
