Man Who Burned Girlfriend Alive Now Getting Jarring Message from Beyond the Grave
A burn victim who died after injuries inflicted upon her by her boyfriend was allowed to “testify” from beyond the grave with evidence filmed before her death, Fox News reported.
In 2015, 33-year-old Judy Malinowski was set aflame behind a gas station in the Columbus, Ohio suburb of Gahanna. She suffered burns on 80 percent of her body and spent two years in the hospital, undergoing multiple surgeries.
In the interim, Michael Slager — her boyfriend and the perpetrator of this horrific crime — was sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading no contest to felonious assault and aggravated arson charges.
Despite dozens of surgeries, however, Malinowski succumbed to her injuries in July of 2017.
Since Malinowski died of her injuries, Slager was now on the hook for her death, as well. A grand jury indicted him on charges of both murder and aggravated murder.
If convicted, Slager could face the death penalty. And there was a star witness from beyond the grave: Judy Malinowski, who had made a tape before her death describing what Slager had done to her.

One major hurdle, however, was getting Malinowski’s testimony admitted to court. Slager’s attorneys objected on a technicality — the tape, they say, was illegally obtained by prosecutors, who relied on civil law instead of criminal law to get the evidence,.
The judge overruled this objection, however, noting that it was a rare case where a victim could actually testify in a murder case after they had died.
Even before this ruling, the Malinowski case has made major changes in Ohio’s criminal justice system.
After Malinowski’s assault, Ohio legislators passed a law that added six years to the sentence of any criminal whose act permanently disfigured a victim.
Malinowski’s daughters “said the law helped them know their mom did not suffer in vain,” the New York Post reported.
This isn’t a difficult case to figure out. Michael Slager is pretty obviously guilty of the crime, and setting an individual aflame generally indicates an intent to murder.
Whether or not he’s convicted is another matter, but what this man did is pure evil, no matter what.
Spending the rest of his life behind bars would be a kindness, one he clearly doesn’t deserve.
