Media Delights as Man in Trump Hat Punched, Pushed Latino Onto Train Tracks
The media loves talking about any incident of violence when the perpetrator is wearing a Trump hat. Unfortunately, that one piece of clothing obscured one of the more disgusting attacks we’ve seen in recent weeks.
According to WABC-TV, New York City police are searching for an African-American man who was wearing the signature “Make America Great Again” cap when he assaulted a 24-year-old Latino man Friday night.
The attack happened on a train platform at the busy Union Square/14th St. station.
Police say the attacker got into a verbal altercation with the victim. He punched the victim multiple times and then pushed him onto the tracks.

The attack happened one week after a Danish tourist was attacked and mugged at knifepoint at the Union Square station because he was wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap, the New York Post reports.
In both situations, the hat may have played some sort of role. Yet, 99.9 percent of “Make America Great Again” hat wearers don’t commit racially-motivated assaults, or assaults of any kind. Likewise, 99.9 percent of “Make America Great Again” hat-wearers aren’t assaulted for their political beliefs.
What this is is simple: a troubling instance of (apparently) racist violence that should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
What this man did to this innocent victim is beyond disgusting, and the fact the crime appears to be racially motivated makes things even worse.
There is, sadly, a multitude of racial violence across this country. Black on white, white on black, black on hispanic — the list could go on for a very long time.
We don’t know all of the details behind this attack. However, based on what we’ve heard, most Trump supporters would do anything to give this racist a good whack in the face.
Given that vigilantism doesn’t solve anything, however, we’d like to be on a jury that would send this guy away for a long, long time. Almost anywhere in America, you could find 12 people in MAGA hats willing to put this guy in the slammer for ages if he did what he’s accused of.
Thankfully, the victim wasn’t seriously injured. A friend and another bystander helped him up from the tracks and to safety. He was transported to the hospital and treated for a laceration to the head.
The NYPD described the suspect, who fled to the L train platform after the attack, as a “black man with a heavy build, wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat, a red shirt with ‘Make America Great Again’ in white letters, blue overalls, a black jacket and jewelry around his neck.”
Let’s make sure this sickening racist is found and brought to justice.
