Blacklisted Hollywood Actress Stuns Entertainment Community by Defending Roseanne Barr
In an interview Friday, African-American actress and comedian Mo’Nique — who another comedian said has been “blacklisted in Hollywood for keeping it real” — called Roseanne Barr her “sister in comedy” and said the reboot of Barr’s ABC show shouldn’t have been cancelled.
Barr has been in Hollywood exile after a May tweet that said former Obama official Valerie Jarrett was like if the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.”
She first blamed the tweet on Ambien, then resurfaced earlier this month with a video in which she claimed she “thought the b—- was white! God d—it, I thought the b—- was white! F—!”
Mo’Nique, who won a 2009 Academy Award for her role in “Precious,” was making an appearance on KTLA-TV in Los Angeles, where she told Barr that “you have a friend in me.”
“I remember when I had the ‘Mo’Nique Show,’ and there was big, major black superstar talent that had white representatives, and they told their talent, ‘That show is too black, and we really don’t want you to go on there,'” Mo’Nique said.
Mo’Nique said that she would not “put (Barr) on the racist list.”
“My sister made a mistake and she said something I know she wishes she could take back,” Mo’Nique said.
“But what I would ask is we don’t throw her away.”
Mo’Nique also said that she wished that Jarrett and Roseanne could “come together” and discuss the issue.
That seems unlikely after Jarrett’s appearance on “The View” last week, in which she said, “Roseanne, who?” when the issue was brought up.
“In all seriousness, I am fine. I am just fine. If one of you said something like that it might hurt my feelings. But this isn’t what keeps me up at night.”
Of course, the ladies of “The View” tend to save their invective for the likes of Judge Jeanine Pirro. But I digress.
In a tweet, comedian and conservative commentator Terrence K. Williams said he believes Mo’Nique has been blacklisted from Hollywood for her habit of “keeping it real.”

The general impression was just what Mo’Nique said: “When someone says they’re sorry — we keep teaching all of this Christianity and all of this forgiveness — but when we’re right in it, we seem to forget.”
Whether or not Hollywood is willing to forgive is another issue entirely.
