Watch: Cuomo Has On-Air Meltdown After Ex-Trump Official Calls Out His Love for Antifa

One of the great features of modern technology is that almost everything broadcast or said on the record stays there forever.

When someone makes a declaration on live television, it’s recorded in a thousand places … and a simple online search can reveal the source word-for-word. It would take a fool to try to argue against the video evidence.

Chris Cuomo is apparently that fool.

Several weeks ago, the liberal CNN host went on a monologue that essentially defended antifa, the far-left group that has been in violent clashes at protests throughout the country.

In a questionable example of moral relativism, Cuomo defended violence by groups like antifa and declared that “all punches are not equal morally.”

“Fighting hate is right,” he declared, with the implication that radical antifa held the moral high ground as noble warriors taking on far-right groups.

Of course, the reality is hard to ignore.

It would be one thing if antifa were peaceful protesters carrying signs. They’re not.

Countless examples show them arriving at locations clad in face masks and geared up for violence, even attacking groups like Patriot Prayer who held the correct permits and were following the law.

Do you think reporters like Cuomo are blatantly ignoring far-left violence?

The fact that antifa can get violent is common knowledge at this point — but it seems to be shocking news to Cuomo.

On Wednesday, Steve Cortes, a former Hispanic Advisory Council member to President Donald Trump, pointed out that antifa was not nearly as nonviolent as Cuomo pretended. That threw the leftist talking head into an angry meltdown.

The CNN reporter was flabbergasted that Trump had recently warned about left-wing violence.

“There’s violence. When you look at antifa and you look at some of these groups — these are violent people,” Trump recently said while meeting with his supporters.

Cortes agreed with that assessment. It’s a “very unfortunate reality in America is that political violence is on the rise, on both the right and the left,” the conservative guest pointed out, acknowledging that both sides had problems.

That’s a pretty even-handed assessment, but Cuomo rejected the notion that there were violent people on the left.

“A lot of them are,” said Cortes.

“Who’s ‘them’?” demanded Cuomo, clearly outraged that someone was telling the truth about the radical left’s actions over the last year.

“Antifa is ‘them,'” Cortes responded, pointing out that Trump’s own statement was clearly talking about that increasingly infamous group, which even CNN has called “violent” and “anarchist.”

“Chris, look, when people, when a thug puts on a mask, whether that mask is a racist Klansman’s hood or whether it is a radical Antifa’s black mask … When they do that and when they resort to political violence, which has been done, on both sides, it is totally unacceptable in a decent society in America,” the former White House adviser said.

“Who disagrees with that? If you break the law, then you’re a rioter and a thug and criminal,” said Cuomo.

It seems that the CNN reporter forgot his own words from earlier this month, where he blatantly defended antifa and put them on a moral pedestal.

Cortes didn’t let Cuomo get away with his convenient memory loss.

“You know who disagrees, unfortunately, Chris?” Cortes shot back. “You do. Because you equivocated on this very point on your show.”

“I never equivocated on anything!” Cuomo nearly yelled back. “You let your righty mouthpieces twist my words for effect to enhance a bigoted agenda,” he continued, visibly upset.

He then contradicted himself in the very next breath.

“I said don’t create a moral equation between those who preach hate and those who fight it because not all punches are equal. And I stand by that,” Cuomo continued, essentially admitting that he did see antifa as being morally justified while assaulting people.

“I’m not pro-antifa,” insisted Cuomo, “I don’t even know who makes up the organization.”

“Then don’t say that they’re anti-hate,” responded Cortes.

Let’s go to the replay, as they say in sports. Video of Cuomo’s original rant defending leftist violence, along with a transcript, is widely available online.

“But when someone comes to call out bigots and it gets hot, even physical, are they equally wrong as the bigot they are fighting? I argue, no,” the CNN host said during that earlier statement. It was clear he sympathized with the radical left and wanted to defend it.

“That’s why people who show up to fight against bigots are not to be judged the same as the bigots, even if they do resort to the same petty violence,” he declared.

Re-read that last statement. “People who show up to fight against bigots” are, in Cuomo’s mind, antifa. That’s who he’s talking about: They’re noble heroes to him … and they’re morally right to be attacking people, “even if they do resort to the same petty violence.”

Those were Cuomo’s own words, captured on video for all to see. In a fit of passive-aggressiveness, he’s now outraged that people like Cortes took him at his word.

This is the liberal tactic in a nutshell. Label every one of your opponents “hateful,” and you’re then magically justified for physically attacking them.

Cortes at least had the decency to acknowledge that there were troublemakers on both sides. Cuomo is more interested in painting the other side as monsters and building a fake moral high ground for the radical left … but the shallowness of his arguments can be seen by anyone.
