Tape Proves Corruption, So McCaskill Wants Investigation...of How She Got Caught
Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill is in trouble … yet instead of dealing with the actual problem, she’s lashing out at everyone else.
The Missouri lawmaker is facing a tight midterm race against Republican rival Josh Hawley, who is currently the state’s attorney general. Experts are saying the election is too close to call, but McCaskill may have just handed her opponent exactly the ammunition he needs to win.
On Monday, Project Veritas released a scathing undercover video that appears to show the Democrat essentially admitting to being dishonest with her constituents and not caring about rural voters.
You’ve probably heard of Project Veritas before: Its investigative reporters have previously used hidden cameras to expose and embarrass other liberal bastions, including The New York Times and CNN.
The investigative sting on McCaskill revealed her saying that she supported many gun bans, including making so-called “high capacity magazines” that come with many common sporting rifles illegal.
“So you would be on board with (banning) bump stocks and … high capacity mags,” a Veritas journalist asked in one of the videos.
“Of course! Of course! I’ve voted for most of those things before,” the Democratic senator answered. “For a ban?” the undercover reporter asked again. “Oh yeah!” McCaskill confirmed.
Then came the truly damning part. “But she doesn’t openly go out and support (anti-gun) groups like ‘Mom’s Demand Action’ or just like other groups that are related to that. Because that could hurt her ability to get elected,” the senator’s campaign staff member Rob Mills admitted on camera.
A different video appeared to show the senator’s staff admit that donations from Planned Parenthood were purposely masked so that it wasn’t immediately obvious that the pro-abortion group was giving money to McCaskill.
In yet another undercover video, McCaskill admitted that she didn’t care if she lost support from rural voters in the southeast part of the state, which is a strong agricultural base. Translation: Constituents that are her job to represent don’t seem to matter.
Instead of explaining her positions or admitting that she made a mistake, the Democrat just kept digging herself into a political hole. First, she directly blamed her Republican opponent for the videos — even though they seem to be part of an independent investigation from Project Veritas.
“It is startling that Josh Hawley would embrace fraudulently embedding somebody in my campaign,” McCaskill scolded, according to KMBC TV.
“He is the Attorney General of Missouri. He’s supposed to be going after fraud, not applauding it,” she continued.
There is no evidence of coordination between Hawley, the Republican in the race, and Veritas.
Somehow in McCaskill’s world, her getting caught putting her foot in her mouth on video is “fraud.” Maybe somebody made her say it.
Hilariously, she then demanded that her own opponent investigate how she got caught on camera admitting that she deceived voters. The Hill reported on Wednesday that the senator has called on Hawley to appoint a special prosecutor to look into the undercover videos, which she vaguely alleged violate anti-fraud laws.
“That’s absurd and she knows it. Senator McCaskill can’t fool Missouri anymore,” Republican candidate Hawley told The Hill. “The truth about her partisanship and party-line liberalism is revealed more every day.”
The conservative candidate summarized McCaskill’s bizarre response in a Twitter post.
“Let’s review last 24 hrs. 1) [McCaskill] & staff caught on tape telling the truth 2) McCaskill accuses ME of fraud 3) McCaskill demands Missouri give her special prosecutor to investigate her truth telling,” he wrote.

“Senator, accusing people of crimes is a serious thing. If you have evidence of a crime, please come forward with it immediately. Otherwise, please stop politicizing the legal process for your reelection,” he also posted.
America needs more political transparency and accountability, not less. Like a kid caught with her hand in the cookie jar, McCaskill’s reaction to blame everyone but herself isn’t helping her case — and it just might be the incident that ends her Senate career.
