'Maximum Penalties:' Trump Throws Down the Gauntlet Against Anyone Committing Voter Fraud

Share

As the midterm elections approach, the question of voter integrity is at the forefront of the president’s mind.

On Saturday President Trump sent out this warning in a tweet:

“All levels of government and Law Enforcement are watching carefully for VOTER FRAUD, including during EARLY VOTING. Cheat at your own peril. Violators will be subject to maximum penalties, both civil and criminal!”

Because of his concerns for voter fraud in the 2016 election, the president formed an Advisory Commission on Election Integrity to investigate possible fraud.

Due to difficulties obtaining information from the states, however, the commission was dissolved in January. Lack of cooperation and differences in state government election rules contributed to the inability to obtain complete information.

The Government Accountability Institute released a study in July of 2017 that was an eye-opening look into the ongoing problem of voter fraud.

The Heritage Foundation summed up the conclusion of this study: “Thousands of votes in the 2016 election were illegal duplicate votes from people who registered and voted in more than one state.”

Do you support penalties for voter fraud?

The Government Accountability Institute also ran into the same kinds of problems obtaining information that the previous commission experienced. They succeeded in collecting data from 21 states and determined that 8471 votes were highly likely duplicates and comparing the data collection method used by the president’s commission determined “with high-confidence” an estimated 45,000 votes were identified as “two votes cast in the same legal name.”

“The probability of 45,000 illegal duplicate votes is the low end of the spectrum, and it does not even account for other types of fraud such as ineligible voting by non citizens and felons and absentee ballot fraud.”

“To put this number of fraudulent votes in perspective, Hillary Clinton won New Hampshire by fewer than 3,000 votes out of over 700,000 cast. Just this number of duplicate votes alone has the power to swing state results and, in turn, elections.”

Unfortunately, New Hampshire refused to turn over their data for this study,” reported Heritage.

The Daily Caller reported ballot integrity issues arise between parties when Republicans initiate policy that requires voters to prove eligibility as Democrats fear that leads to voter suppression.

Adjunct professor of criminal justice at Virginia Commonwealth University Matt C. Pinsker said, “Democrats will not push for photo ID requirements to vote because they benefit most from voter fraud.”

“Despite Democrat claims that it is practically non-existent, the reality is that in every election there have been numerous irregularities reported, the overwhelming majority of which favor Democrats. Despite there being numerous incidents every election cycle, Democrats are correct that prosecutions for voter fraud are rare. In large part, this only is because Democrats have purposefully setup a system which deliberately turns a blind eye and prevents any form of detection or screening,” reported Daily Caller.

And illegal voters are certainly a problem. In November of 2016 the president tweeted his concerns about illegal voter fraud.

“In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.”

In August, Western Journal reported that over 3000 illegal voters cast a ballot in sanctuary cities across the nation.

“More than 3,000 foreign nationals were listed on voter rolls across 13 sanctuary jurisdictions, according to Public Interest Legal Foundation research released Monday.”

“The study, which collected data on 13 sanctuary cities and counties in seven different states, discovered that between 2006 and 2018 approximately 3,120 non-U.S. citizens were illegally able to vote in U.S. elections.”

Voter fraud comes in a lot of different forms and the president is absolutely right to take a proactive stand on it before the upcoming elections. We would all be very foolish to believe the left doesn’t have something up their sleeves concerning midterm voter turnout.
