10-Year-Old with Brain Cancer Gets Hand-Delivered Gift from President

Share

Ten-year-old Oliviah Hall got an unexpected Christmas visitor this year.

Oliviah has been battling a brain tumor since 2017, according to WOIO. Since she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade IV, her family has been busy making memories with her.

In November, she met President Donald Trump when he traveled through Cleveland, Ohio.  He took pictures with her family and gave her a challenge coin.

A little over a month after, Oliviah received a surprise from the president.

“We got a call from the Secret Service,” Oliviah’s aunt Tina Rausch said. “But we didn’t know they were bringing an autographed copy of the photo we took.”

U.S Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Jon Shuck drove to Oliviah’s home to pay her a visit and hand-deliver an autographed photo from the White House.

The photo is from when Oliviah and her family met Trump and was signed, “I love you, President Trump.”

“Her personality is something else,” Schuck said.  “She lights up a room.”

Rausch says that the family is focused on having good times with Oliviah despite her tumor, which is affecting her short-term memory.

“She’s absolutely amazing,” Rausch said.  “She smiles and is happy in the moment, and so we’re going to keep doing what we’re doing.”

According to Oliviah’s family, she loves receiving mail and sometimes gets around 1,000 letters and cards from a trip to the post office.

Oliviah also enjoys giving back to her community, according to WJW. She recently spent time wrapping gifts and asking for donations for other children battling life-threatening diseases.

“We want to look back and remember Oliviah was happy,” Rausch said.
