Smug Chris Cuomo Being Blasted for Response to Rape Survivor's Heartbreaking Story
The liberal mainstream media is well known for its hostility to the Second Amendment, but one particular television host seems to be working overtime in this department.
On Thursday, TheBlaze reported that CNN’s Chris Cuomo sent conservatives into an uproar after making a snide comment on a video posted by the National Rifle Association. The message he responded to was delivered by NRA spokeswoman and rape survivor Kimberly Corban.
In the video, which was released in 2016, Corban briefly recounts her experience being raped as a college student, then states:
“I’m a mother of two, and if that predator or anyone else tries to harm me or my family, they have to come through my firearm first.”
“Only in America,” Cuomo wrote in response.

Cuomo’s comment invited thousands of blistering replies, with a majority of individuals expressing confusion over why exactly it would be an issue for a rape survivor to use a firearm to defend herself.
He even garnered a response from Corban herself, the target of his “Only in America” retort.
“Hi Chris Cuomo. Looks like you forgot to tag me. Care to chat about this?” Corban wrote.

Fox News’ Janice Dean — who has written about being the victim of a home invasion herself — chimed in to support Corban.
Dean asked for clarification, saying, “You might want explain this tweet a little better to those of us who’ve actually had to face predators in our own homes and defend ourselves without a big strong man like yourself?”

House GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney added a statement of her own, backing up Corban and all women who have the freedom to defend themselves with firearms.

Despite there being a lengthy list of men and women who weren’t happy with Cuomo’s take on the matter, one brutal response stood out above the rest.
“I honestly thought it was beneath Chris Cuomo to try to dunk on a rape survivor for vowing to protect herself from future attacks, but here we are,” Daily Wire journalist Amanda Prestigiacomo wrote, securing several hundred likes.

After comments like these, Cuomo returned to the topic to try to explain what he meant by the tweet.
“You are right. No offense intended. Too short on Twitter. ‘Only in America’ are we still debating the legitimate right to protect oneself like you and many others vs sensible way to keep guns from wrong people,” Cuomo wrote in a follow-up tweet.
“Only here can we not address the issues around school shootings in a way that respects the ill and also people who get guns legally (as I did) and use responsibly (as I).”
“We are stuck with good people having to beg to keep a right and not getting done what is right for federal reasonable restrictions and mental health reform. I am sorry for confusion,” Cuomo continued.
“I take the issue and the stories of violence seriously. Muscles don’t stop bullets, as you know. Again, I have always been clear about the right to own and what needs to be improved. Apologize if you were misled.”

Twitter critics, however, weren’t buying it.

And this backpedal by Cuomo isn’t helped by the fact that he still has not removed his initial “Only in America” tweet.
Remember, this is the same liberal mainstream media personality who criticized Americans for praying in the wake of mass shootings.
In November 2018, Cuomo had this to say about people who use the power of prayer for shooting victims.
“And prayer? You think leaving it to God is the answer? We pray for strength, we pray for wisdom, for resolve, but we clearly don’t want to act on any of those here. So what are you praying for?”
At the end of the day, Chris Cuomo might do himself a massive favor if he simply took his anti-gun rhetoric down about four or five notches.
It would be a favor to the rest of us, too.
