John Rich Teams Up with Greg Gutfeld for Epic 'Shut Up About Politics' Song

It’s one thing to tell people to “shut up about politics.”

But it’s something entirely different to belt out a new, hit song “Shut Up About Politics.”

The song, co-written by American country music singer John Rich, debuted Friday on Fox News.

But wait, why choose to roll out the song on Fox News?

The song’s other co-writer is none other than Fox News personality Greg Gutfeld, co-host on “The Five” and host of “The Greg Gutfeld Show.”

Do you think they did a good job on the song?

When Gutfeld asked Rich to explain the song’s origins, Rich said, “We had the chat about it would be fun to come up with a song when you guys came to Nashville and you [Gutfeld] said, ‘I’ll send you some ideas’ … and you had some really good lines and ‘shut up about politics’ was in there and so I pulled that one out and built the song.”

The lyrics perfectly convey what many Americans feel about incessant political sniping and division.

After the song was released, Rich sent out an ecstatic tweet announcing that “Shut Up About Politics” soared to No. 1 on the country music charts.

In addition, all proceeds generated from the song will be donated to a non-profit called Folds of Honor. It does important work to assist the families of fallen and disabled service members by providing scholarships to further their education.

“Well, we thought if we’re going to go through this whole process of recording it, why not go ahead and put it up online where people can download it? It’s 99 cents and 100 percent of that 99 cents goes to these guys — to Folds of Honor,” Rich told “The Five.”
