Oops! House Dems Delete Tweets Blasting Trump for Cage Pics Taken Under Obama

Share

Democrats have tried their very best to hammer President Donald Trump on the ongoing border crisis, and specifically the perceived poor treatment of illegal immigrants who are held at various detention facilities after being apprehended by Border Patrol agents.

But my gosh, they keep failing, and the latest instance was so ridiculous that it even got the House Oversight Committee Republicans involved on Twitter.

On July 9, according to the Washington Examiner, Democrats on the committee posted a jarring propaganda graphic on Twitter that had migrant children in cages in the background.

The tweet read, “Last week, members of our committee visited a detention center at the southern border and discovered grotesque treatment of children. This week, we are examining the inhumane treatment of the children in these detention centers.”

The text overlay was an advertisement for the hearing that stated, “Civil rights and civil liberties subcommittee hearing. Kids in cages: Inhumane treatment at the border. Wednesday, July 10, 2019, 2:00 p.m.”

The committee posted a follow-up tweet with similar wording and also used a graphic of children being held in cages.

There was just one glaring problem, according to the Examiner: The image was taken midway through former President Barack Obama’s second term in office.

It was immediately called out by the Republican Oversight and Reform Committee’s Twitter account: The image was taken midway through former President Barack Obama’s second term in office.

“You all know that’s a picture from 2014, right? Remind us who was President then,” the tweet hilariously read.

The presumably embarrassed Democrats deleted the picture after obviously realizing it was a mistake. But they left the second tweet with the similar graphic up, which prompted Republicans to again call them out.

“@OversightDems, you deleted the last one. But this picture is also from 2014,” the GOP’s tweeted response read.

Eventually, that Democratic tweet was deleted, too.

The flub was so bad that President Donald Trump’s campaign stepped up to the plate to take a swing at the pathetic attempt by dramatic Democrats to slam his border and immigration policies.

“House Democrats are promoting their ‘civil rights’ hearing on ‘kids in cages’ and ‘inhumane treatment’ with a photo from 2014, when Joe Biden was Vice President. So dishonest,” The Trump War Room tweeted.

As expected, the humiliated Democrats responsible for the fake news propaganda tweets issued a response, albeit an extremely weak one, which attempted to explain why they had deleted the graphics.

Are Democrats out of control on the border issue?

“The photo was an error, and it has been removed. But there is simply no comparison between the actions of the Obama Administration and the Trump Administrations,” a Democratic committee aide told the Washington Examiner.

The aide also called the Trump administration’s efforts to control immigration “dehumanizing” and claimed that the “Obama Administration separated children only in an extremely small number of cases when there was a true danger to the child’s safety.”

The images of children in cages were confirmed to be from the Obama-era after The Associated Press fact-checked them in 2018 due to widespread use of the images by liberal activists in an attempt to connect the photos with the Trump administration.

The Democrats must have missed the AP’s bold and clear headline of the fact-check piece, which was titled:

“AP FACT CHECK: 2014 photo wrongly used to hit Trump policies.”

Not a lot of wiggle room there.

Oops?

Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her radical friends in the House will say or do anything — like compare immigrant holding centers to Nazi-era “concentration camps” — in an effort to make Trump look bad.

But it’s not working out too well, especially as their propaganda hit-pieces are fact-checked and shot down.

I’m confident that American voters, even moderate Democrats, will be beyond sick and tired of the Democrats’ antics by the time the 2020 election rolls around.
