Actor Chris Pratt Quotes Famous Christian Author to Colbert To Explain How He Survives Hollywood

Share

Actor Chris Pratt is no stranger to sharing his faith with total abandon, unashamed to tell the world what he believes.

We’ve watched our favorite 39-year-old action star and comedian rise in fame and recognition ever since his days as Andy Dwyer on NBC’s hit sitcom “Parks and Recreation.”

From there he went on to star in blockbuster films like “Guardian’s of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World,” taking on huge roles he had no problem filling.

But there’s more to Pratt than meets the eye, and that has especially become true as he’s taken time to be more and more open regarding his faith.

In 2016, Pratt posted a photo of himself and a pair of buddies in front of a wooden cross. “Happy Easter!” Pratt wrote in his caption.

HAPPY EASTER!

In an interview that year with “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert, Pratt explained the story behind the photo and how much it meant to him.

The Christian actor discussed how he helped his friends put that cross up on a hill at a ranch down in Texas the day before Easter.

“That’s what Jesus was doing 2,000 something years before … the thing was super heavy … but it was just so rewarding and awesome,” he told Colbert.

It may have been a few years since the day Pratt helped take that old cross up a hill, but his heart for God appears to be more passionate than ever.

In a 2019 interview with Stephen Colbert, Pratt shared his experience with the 21-day Daniel Fast, holding nothing back and sharing how his pastor inspired him to participate.

Do you love watching Chris Pratt speak openly about his faith?

But what’s perhaps even more fascinating about Pratt’s conversation with Colbert is how he responded to being asked if he felt like he was in his own “lion’s den” of sorts.

“Do you ever feel like you’re in the lion’s den by being … a celebrity in the public eye?” Colbert asked. Not surprisingly, Pratt said he did.

And it’s what he said next that’s truly the icing on the church potluck cake. “There’s this great quote that I actually heard in church…”

“If the spotlight that’s shining on you is brighter than the light that comes from within you, it’ll kill you,” he said.

The quote is one that can be attributed to Christian author and speaker Christine Caine, who is well known for her books “Unshakable,” “Unstoppable,” “Unexpected,” “Unashamed,” and “Undaunted.”

In 2014, she shared these words on Facebook — “If the light that is within you is not greater than the light that is on you, the light that is on you will destroy you.”

Though Pratt didn’t get the wording quite right, we’d say he got his point across quite nicely. His boldness regarding his beliefs is truly inspiring.
